A true ladder builder will have his own ideas and really, its not hard to think about how to build a drop... Make what you want to make, and have fun. Then post some PICS!
lol nope i have permission on a 300+ acre farm that is close to my house, there are already about 8-10 miles worthe of trails cut out there, i did have pics of me riding but my computer crached about a week ago, witch i lost all my pics, and im NOT 14, im 18 thank u for your ignorance. but yes i have built shore befor but kinda running out of ideas for some exciting stuff, and i dont just want drops, got tons of them already.

18!!!! Oh my god... does that mean you've made it through high school and still write that poorly. :mumble:
"worthe"
"crached"
"witch"
"im"
"befor"
"dont"
Don't even get me started on the punctuation. When you write the all-too-common request for college selection help, please re-post the quoted statement as to provide some context.
quit being a bunch of asses, he's just asking for ideas. and its not like this is english class, so punctuation and spelling really doesn't matter here.
how about some skinnies that range frome 1.5' to 6" wide(depending on skill level), that just twist and turn with some teeter todders trown in there, and maybe a row of them that are all connected. I do like the step up idea. a wood booter, that kicks you up onto a ladder, nothing too skinny, unless you are really good. then have it continue on twisting and turning through the tree's with some drop-ins and that sort of thing.
Agreed it isnt English class, it is an open forum. Perhaps my tone was inappropriate, but the importance of correct spelling and grammar is not to be taken lightly. The ubiquity of spellcheckers, as well as of bad writing on the internet, is helping to turn todays youth into a crop of poor writers with no regard for the importance of eloquence and accuracy in writing. If someone has a drug habit, you would intervene, as it may negatively influence the rest of their life. If someone has poor spelling and grammar, or a lack of regard for their importance, then I choose to intervene. Try getting a job with spelling errors on a resume. Try convincing someone of your aptitude when you cant tell them how much you are worthe. At 18, you still have time to correct bad writing habits, but only if you know you have a problem. One is not likely to realize that their poor writing is even noticed until they are told. That, apparently, is where I come in.
In addition, I am a fan of the step up. I like trails that intimately tie dirt trails to wooden stunts, particularly if they are tied with some kind of jump, drop, or step-down. Do not just create a string of skinny log-rides youll get bored. Make sure that you tie in some tight elevated turns to practice your stability under lateral force. I also really want to see someone install an elevated skinny with some kind of coping attached to the side. It would have to be cantilevered off of a few trees/high stumps so that you could grind it to the end (and off the end to a transition) without fear of hitting your pedal on the supports. My $0.02 (plus a little more). Cheers. -S
spelling is overrated, and trying to police bad spelling is getting quite old here on a downhill forum. Go and make fun of people, but there are better things to rag on than their spelling...
a seach on stunts here would bring up some similar threads...
Dirt/wood combo stuff I think is pretty cool. It kinda all comes down to your bike and then wood working skills, just always overbuild is my motto.
we did just build this insane trail title "snake run" that runs from one side of a vally to another turns, comes down that side and goes up ther other, and crossed a creek each time at the middle of the transitions, it repeats that pattern abuot 10 times, insanley fun, thanks for the ideas. thanks to iridebikes for sticking for me, lol
I agree that there are a lot of spelling nazis here on RM, but if you can't take the few extra moments to proof-read your posts, why should anyone take any time to give you advice or an opinion? It's just distracting and indicates that you don't care that much. I don't think it means you'll end up in van down by the river but still.
Anyway if you have 8-10 miles of trails I suggest building gnarly features into the natural features already there, like turning a sweet turn into a big wallride, that kind of thing.
I'd also check out pics of Ray's MTB park, some of the badass Norcal stuff posted by Zachdank, and that other set of pics from somewhere in the midwest (??) where they built a corkscrew, over-and-under, etc.
Or, since you're already the ripe old age of 18, you must have been working for at least a couple of years - just hire Dangerous Dan and his crew to come build it up for you...
ummm i dont really think that we will be alble to build any dirt jumps its just WAY to many trees that would have to be moved and the soil is so rocking they would be rock piles rather then dirt jumps, lol hey thats an idea rock pille jumps
I do agree that it is a good idea to practice good spelling and that sort of thing, just so you don't get rusty. But there's no point in ragging on someone because of it. I do kind of understand sam_little's point of it becoming a problem with today's youth because of all the online chatting, and it becoming a habbit. But yet again. its not a big deal to make some mistakes every once in a while. Plus I was having a crappy morning, and I know what it's like to get ragged on, and I really don't take it anymore and stand up for people who it's happening to.
that snake run sounds sick. Where abouts is it, because if it's close, I would love to ride it... or try to ride the whole thing.
yeh spelling and grammer will become a more important part on rm to you guys when you put a lot of time on the site. also it makes life a lot easier on all of us so that we can understand what you are talking about.
and also some pictures would be very helpfull for this thread. if your talkin about a run you built let us see it so we can judge, fix, and make better what you have already done.
snake run is out in VA on a farm that is near my house, 300+ acres of just the perfect places to set up trails, rocks hills, vally's, creecks, and a river, its just awesome, i would love to get ya some pics, lol ill have to get some film and all but as soon as i can i deffin. will
