Until this year when Truvativ did that weird splined version for the Holfellers, or whatever. I haven't studied it much, but I hope the world raises hell about SRAM trying to shove standards down our throats like they did about Shimano for doing a spline specific interface.
Eh? You mean their external bearing BB interface? Doesn't really have anything to do with the ISIS standard, all the companies are doing their own thing with the external bearing interfaces. Some of them are compatible but not all.
Hell, I haven't even heard a named standard for the external BB interface spline. Have you?
I don't get what the big deal is with that anyway. Bottom brackets aren't exactly long-wear items, certainly they have a shorter lifespan than the crankarms you put on them. Buy a BB to fit your cranks and be done with it.
Do people really go through a lot more crankarms than they do bottom brackets?
It seems to me it's a little like complaining that your brake pads are brand-specific (though not quite that extreme).
