stupid question time...

excuse my ignorance. most singlespeed rear hubs i'm seeing are 135mm spacing. i'm reading that CX bikes are typically 130mm. I am assuming that 135mm hubs won't work? White Industries are an option that i've come across. What else? i'm looking for the lowest possible weight.

A cheap person, such as myself, would just use a standard road hub. You really can't beat the standard Dura Ace hub. Light, rolls fast, has a classic look

You should check your Raleigh and see what the spacing is. Most new road/CX bikes are 130mm spacing for gears, but in some cases they will make the SS frame 135mm spaced. This is because MTB SS rear hubs are much easier to come by than 130mm road versions. The Felt Breed is a 135mm-spaced frame. I ordered a White Industries Eno rear hub for it, I have one of their eccentric hubs for MTB, and I like their craftmanship. They also make probably the best freewheel (if you get a freewheel hub) out there, so I'd say spring for one of those if you want the best.
My coworker has a King 135mm SS hub he's building on the new Zipp 303 rims for his Breed, should be insanely trick.

I would have used a spacered road hub to build mine if I had the option, but with the spacing on my frame, I couldn't really. Shame, I had some sweet wheels I could have used too...

White Industries makes their standard (non eccentric) Eno hub available in 130o.l.d.

It's damn nice, and what we use on all of our road and cross singlespeed and fixed builds.

Yes they sure do. Plus bonus points if you've been around MTBs forever, the White Industries name carries a lot of weight.

can i use v-brakes instead of cantis? or is will the carbon fork flex like a wet noodle?

i will be putting a flat bar instead of drops on this frame, so i'll be using linear pull levers
Heck yes you can!

Though I don't recommend using a Sibex Ti fork...

Wayyy too flexy...

I like the labeling on the Look rim...cleared up some confusion. ;)
Yeah, I wasn't sure who made it at first, but then someone suggested I read what's written on there 100 times.

Nice bike James I almost bought one in red on Ebay with the original XTR on the bike.
I dig it, though I don't ride it anymore, my commute isn't what it used to be, plus not really kosher to show up on a Specialized... :)
