Hi,
My friend want me to look for a new bike but I don't know nothing about XC..
He wants to do light XC and a little bit of road, he just want to have a good ride with no problem and big technologies. He doesn't really have a budget, he will pay for something durable. What can I sugest him?

how light is light XC? Perhaps a CX bike would be best? I'd think either a CX bike or a good hardtail rig... something he can put knobbies on for the dirt and slicks on for the road.

Call around to your local bike shops (real bike shops, not sporting good stores or department stores) and see what brands they carry, then report back here. There are too many good bikes out there to simply make a blind recommendation.
