That's right, for those of you that have seen Gas Company trucks out there sporatically for the last year or two, its official. They're doing maintainance on the natural gas pipeline that runs down the canyon. Work will include removing a ton of trees, clearing brush and plowing a 12 foot wide road. The work on the pipeline is definitely necessary, no one is disputing that, but the amount of demolition they're doing will obliterate that trail for a long time to come.

Operations start Tuesday, 9/1, so Monday is probably the last time to ride the canyon for the next 5 years, and who knows how long after that it will take for the canyon to be in a trail condition like it is today.

I'm planning on doing a final night ride Monday night, probably ride at 8 or so. If you've never ridden Sully at night its pretty great, worth doing even if you have to strap a Maglite to your bars. I'm not organizing anything but a massive group of people enjoying this trail one last time would be pretty cool :thumb:

Some new info has surfaced. Looks like they bumped the start date back to the 15th so we have a little more time. Also, *supposedly* the canyon will only be closed for a short time, after which time it'll be open on weekends, but will still be a plowed fireroad :(
