They suspended my acct., I don't know why and they won't tell me.

Has this happened to you or anyone you know?

I've only made three purchases in the past two years, so I don't care about losing three positive feedbacks and since there was a sweet (Miche Supertype) seatpost that I wanted, I just created a new account.

so here is the email exchange with ebay.

"Unfortunately, we are unable to be more specific about why we suspended your account."

How am I supposed to appeal when I do not know what I'm appealing? I'm TOTALLY CLUELESS as to what the problem is and y'all are NOT giving me any information. I'm thinking that y'all do NOT know why you suspended my account.

Seriously, do y'all honestly think this is good business?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting eBay regarding the suspension of your account.

Unfortunately, we are unable to be more specific about why we suspended
your account. We must retain control of the proprietary nature of the
Section 9 suspension.

Per our previous email request, we will need you to provide the required
information before further action can be taken with your eBay account.
If you are unable to submit the requested information via Fax we will
gladly accept the required information via ground mail. You can mail
this information to:

eBay SafeHarbor Dept.
Attn: PA Appeals
PO Box 1469
Draper, UT 84020

Information sent by mail requires additional time for transit and
processing and will result in a delayed review of

your appeal. Please be sure to include the User ID and email address of
the suspended account you're

appealing. If your documentation does not contain this information, it
will not be processed.

We look forward to receiving the requested information for review in
your case.

Hello,

Thank you for writing eBay.

First of all, I would like to apologize for the delay in our response to
your email. We have been experiencing a larger than normal level of
emails and are working diligently to address all of our members concerns
as soon as possible. Your concerns are important to me and I appreciate
the opportunity to assist you at this time.

I reviewed your account and determined that you were suspended under
Section 9 of the eBay User Agreement. This section states that eBay may
immediately warn, temporarily suspend, indefinitely suspend, or
terminate your membership if we believe that your actions may cause
financial loss or legal liability to you, our users, or us. You can
review the eBay User Agreement at the following Web page:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/png-user.html

To be considered for reinstatement, you must provide all of the
following documentation:

name and address must be clearly visible.
- A copy of a recent credit card statement, bank statement, or utility
bill statement clearly showing your billing address. If you are
concerned about sending sensitive information, such as your Social
Security number, please black it out.

Any information submitted as a part of your appeal must be consistent
with the registration on your eBay account. Should any discrepancies
exist, we ask that you provide an explanation of those discrepancies as
well as any additional information or documentation that confirms your
explanation.

Please fax your Request for Reinstatement Form, a copy of a recent
credit card statement or utility bill statement, and proof of your
registration information (copy of your ID) to:

eBay, Attention: Section 9 Appeals
Fax Number: 877-349-1798

following fax number:
Attn: Section 9 Appeals: 001 + 801-545-2700

Please be sure to include the User ID and email address of the suspended
account you're appealing. If your fax does not contain this information,
it will not be processed.

Allow 48 to 72 hours for your request for your appeal to be processed.
Emailing us before that time will result in delays.

Any documents submitted will be destroyed after the information has been
reviewed and verified.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write to eBay's Trust and Safety
department. I appreciate your continued help in keeping eBay a safe and
fair place to trade.

yeah, I get spoof emails all the time, I don't open 'em and I just delete 'em immediately. In fact, the first email I received from ebay I thought was a spoof and did delete without viewing. It wasn't until I tried to log-in that I realized I had deleted a real email... first in probably 1000s of fakes over the years from various sites.

Oh well. Is there another auction site that I should use?

i had my account suspended last year. someone got my password -- i don't know how since i certainly don't reply to spoof emails, and indeed forward all of them to spoof@ebay.com out of spite -- and ebay apparently noticed weird listings and shut down my account. i had to go through the rigamarole of faxing in a copy of my driver's license to get my account reinstated.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting eBay regarding the suspension of your account.

We have strong reason to believe that your eBay account password had
been recently compromised. Although we are not able to disclose the
details surrounding the investigative procedures that led us to that
conclusion, we assure you that our action was in the best interest of
the safety of your account.

In order to prevent any fraudulent activity from occurring we chose to
temporarily close the account until we had heard from you. This process
allows us to give back sole control of the account to you with
instructions regarding the account and its future safety.

Our main goal now is restoring your account back to you as quickly and
safely as possible. To continue with your appeal we will need you to
provide proof of your identity so that we can verify ownership of your
account. We will accept a copy of your driver's license or other
government issued identification. To expedite the reinstatement
process, please include your eBay user ID, email address, and a valid
telephone number on the same page as the copy of your identification.
You can fax this information to the fax number provided below or the
number given to you in the initial suspension notice.

Fax: 1-801-880-8754

Please allow 48 to 72 hours for this information to be processed.
Emailing us before that time will result in delays. Once the above
information is provided, we will review your case and notify you of our
decision via email. Please note that any documents submitted will be
destroyed after your registration information has been verified.

If you are concerned about faxing sensitive information (such as your
Social Security number), please black it out. However, your full name
and address must be legible for us to process your request.

I look forward to working with you towards the restoration of your
account. Thank you for your patience and attention in this important
matter.

my ebay account is suspended too. I sold my lambda frame to a nonpaying bidder for $1400, and when the bidder didnt pay ebay still wanted like $35 in sellers fees from me. I explained the situation to them through email, yet they didnt seem to care. I filed a non paying bidder report too, with no effect to my situation. So until they remove that charge from my bill, my account is suspended, because i'm not paying it.

I had my account suspended a while ago. I had posted two very similar bikes for a friend of mine. They were nearly identical. One had a white Psylo and the other had a gold Psylo. That was the only difference that could be seen in the pictures. I think someone turned me in as listing the bike twice. I didn't have to go through as much red tape. I just had to do a live chat with an Ebay rep to explain the situation.

When I asked why my account was suspended, I got the exact same thing. I asked how do I prevent this from happening again if I don't know what happened. He said he would make a note in my account regarding what happened and that should prevent it in the future. I had no idea what that means, but I let it go at that.

Hello,

Thank you for contacting SafeHarbor with your appeal.

While reviewing your account, we found discrepancies in your phone
number. According to your contact information, you have two phone
numbers listed on your account. If you could please address these
discrepancies, we would be more than happy to continue to review your
account for reinstatement.

Thank you for your time.

-------------- my response to the above email -------------------

wow! An actual answer? I'm surprised and pleased, eventhough it took a dozen emails and three or four weeks.

QUESTION 1: Why is having two different phone numbers an issue? One might be my work phone and the other might be my cell phone. I don't know because...

ISSUE 1: I cannot access my account to confirm the phone numbers... ya know, cuz it’s suspended.

IDEA 1: call the phone numbers in my account! If I don't answer, then yeah, there's a problem.

WHAT HAPPENED THAT MADE EBAY FLAG MY ACCOUNT?! (I'm not screaming, just want you to focus on that one very specific question that is more important than anything else)

You should forward all the emails from me to your boss. I know this isn't your fault or your problem, but I'm simply cannot believe that any company knowingly wants to conduct business like this. So I'm guessing upper management doesn't know just how convoluted a system they have in place.

Warmest and sweetest regards,
Steve
