I've got an old school Cannondale Beast of the East. I want to put a front shock on it so my wife doesn't get jarred all the time riding it. However it's got a long head tube and the rigid fork has little room between the top of the tire and the bottom of the headtube. Recommendations on forks with slimmer profiles to reduce the axle to crown distance while still giving a decent amount of travel? I think it's probably a lost cause, but maybe not.

dude. the beast of the east is ancient, and came with weird pseudo-trials geometry (high bottom bracket and the odd front end geometry that you've noticed) for the supposed needs of east coast riders.

i think you're out of luck on this one, unless you go with a 24" front wheel and disc setup. :D
