I finally made the jump to full suspension and snagged a mint Heckler on ebay for a sweet price. There's a fair gap in technology between this and my last bike, a '97 Stumpjumper. I read the 5th element setup guide from Progressive & SC, got the beginning/ending stroke & rebound set to their recommendations. Where's the volume adjust? Is it the blue locknut behind the schrader valve?
I'm almost exactly 180 lbs but I'll probably sacrifice plush for less bob, so I foresee more tuning in the future.
One more thing -- It's got Hayes discs. The rear lever pinches my hand when I grab a handful of brake. I don't think I'd say its spongy, but there's a little flex at the end of the lever's travel that causes my pinky finger to meet the lever in an uncordial manner. The front lever is fine. What do you think, bleed it? Since today is going to be my first real ride on it, I'll find out if its a problem with regular riding.
Since the bike was used, I didn't get any of the manuals, etc. If anyone knows of scans of these online, or is willing to scan the useful pages, I'd appreciate it. Or has links to some good bleeding instructions. Thanks.
