Last time I saw Suzue it was on cheap wheels. The front hub might be OK (it's hard to stuff up a front hub), but the rear freewheel mechanism is something you'll have to be concerned about.
no idea, i saw them in the tioga factory price sheet, they were expensive in bulk/FOB japan already, if they ever make it over to the states you can expect them to be spendy.
actually to give you an idea about pricing, it was roughly that of 11 pairs of tiogas high end platform pedal, or about 14 nicolas vouilloz saddles.
call the tioga guys in europe and ask them about the wheelset, there are versions for qr and t/a both front and rear, they look really nice, normal tioga rim with black spokes and these suzue hubs, black flanges with a carbon body that has a white stripe in the center to match the rims.
pretty light too, expectable from any wheelset built with those rims anyway
ummm...I believe you mean early to mid '80's! can you say old school
Tioga did a bunch of testing before releasing their DH wheelset, I know they tested the strength of 32 v. 36 hole rims etc. If that is any indication of potential quality of the hubs?
I had the Tioga rims and liked them but maybe someone who has the complete wheelset can chime in...
