I might get a set of camo lowers for my slider. I can wrench on pretty much everything on a bike, but have never worked on a fork before (always bought a new one before I needed a rebuild) :) .

How easy is it to swap lowers on a sherman?

What all will I need when I do this (lube-wise)?

Thanks

Remove the Rebound adjuster (tiny allen, 2.5mm?) on the bottom of the SPV leg then stick a large allen (6 or 8mm?) in the exposed hole and turn clockwise. It will feel weird because it seems like you are tightening the bolt but you actually need to drive it down into the fork leg until the threads disengage. Undo the bolt (10mm?) on the bottom of the spring leg and slide the lowers off. Simple as that (Of course you need to remove your front brake first). Once you slide on the new lowers, squirt about 10cc or so of oil into the holes on the bottom before tightening the bolts. DO NO OVER TIGHTEN THE BOLTS!!!!! The lowers are soft and WILL strip out easily. Just snug everything down and re-check the torque again after a short ride. Manitou has detailed instructions on their website in PDF format. I recommend removing the lowrs on Shermans and lubing the seals/wipers/foam rings very frequently for the best performance.

Just checked out manitou's site again. Dont know how I missed those PDFs, Ive looked before. Anyway, it says to add 16cc of oil. Any specific reason why you said 10cc?
