Hey, my buddy wants to buy an enduro but was also looking at the epic. I showed him the sworks enduro with the brain and he was wondering if he could just buy the shock with the brain and put it on a new 2005 enduro 130. Any one know? Can u buy it aftermarket? Did that make sense?

Specialized still has last years S-Works frames in stock in the US. Also FWIW the Euro market 2005 models have an entire line of "Brain" Enduros ranging in price.

I have a buddy selling last years S-Works frame in size large if your interested....

Why? I think they're pretty darn spiffy.
Overzealous platforms are bad enough, but that thing just feels locked out too often. I don't like the sometimes suspension, sometimes stiff feel. It seemed kind of inconsistent on the one I rode. This was the first year they were out and I know the new ones are more adjustable than what I rode. I'm fine with propedal. I don't ever want my suspension totally locked out.

My gf has a Brain on her Epic and loves it. She's an expert DH and XC racer, so she knows how suspension should feel. She has also ridden Tazer's, Fuels and some other similar bikes, and says that it is more of a race item. I htink its cool that they positioned the weight so that it will react tp a drop off.

You know the brain on the Enduro i tune-able, almost to the point where its not really doing anything.

And yes, the newer brains are better than the 1st year ones.

Its suposed to be locked out to often! Its designed as a light weight XC race bike (the epic).

No, you cannot purchase a brain shock. You cant get one from fox, nor specialized. The Epic and Enduro SWORKS use a specail heim joint mount that allows the shock to pivot with the load. I have put a lot of miles on our shops epic, and its a sick bike, super fast, super responsive, and the with newer adjustable brain, its even better.

I have not ridden the enduro with a brain shock... If I were to purchase the enduro, I would opt for the propedal shock, with the itch-switch travel knob, and a lock out.

If he is trying to decide between the epic, and enduro. Those are kinda like Night and Day. Tell him to look at the New Stumpy FSR 120 sworks adjustable 5" of travel, pro pedal shock. lighter than enduro, raceable like the epic.
