definitely worth watching. T. Boone Pickens is an oil billionaire who tells it how it is: america's decline, sending $600 billion/yr out of the country for oil to "a few friends and a hell of a lot of enemies", on the sheer lunacy of hillary's claim that she'd reduce oil to $60/barrel somehow.

also of note is that his company has invested in 4000 MW worth of wind turbines...

"ethanol... that's a sad story. it's an ugly baby, but it's our baby"

"diesel will never sell again below gasoline. it will always be more expensive than gasoline"

"you're not going to see $75 [/barrel] oil [ever again]" (so the SPR will never be refilled under the current silly legislation)

on china: "if they had the olympics today, in this smog, and had a 100m race it'd have to be a relay"

"the people in [this] country don't realize what we're up against. we're actually dealing with a huge shift of capital out to somewhere. we're going to be reduced to -- i promise you, it's going to happen quick -- we're going to be reduced to something less than the superpower we are"

bingo.

So, now that he's rich and almost dead, before he signs off he tells us how ****ed we are without saying sorry?

That's like a rapist telling you as he leaves the room that you should probably go see a doctor for some Plan B because you just had unprotected sex...

I don't trust anything that guy said, which really wasn't much except texas hoopla. He declined to engage the cellulose fuel professor, he wasn't specific on anything, he advertised for his company and GE. Didn't even mention hydrogen or battery powered vehicles.

Can I have 40 minutes of my life back??

Regardless of the source, he makes many good points and Toshi nailed a lot of them.

I do think that he underestimates the near term potential of bio-fuels to offset foreign oil dependence, especially because they (both ethanol and bio-diesel) require less of an infrastructure shift than CNG.

The point of moving our power grid off of petroleum cannot be emphasized enough, and he is absolutely right when he talks of utilizing every lever we have (from nuclear to solar) to do so, as well as leveraging local energy resources whenever possible.

Reminds me of the time Ted Turner went off on the tirade about the ridiculous price a hot dogs at Turner Field.

Of course, the price hasn't gone down...

Pickens is promoting a national energy plan that relies on natural gas to cut U.S. dependence on foreign oil.
Great, if it can be metered for large profits, he’s all in… if it can’t, fvck it, but it sure makes for positive PR speeches.
