Looking for opinions on this system. How similar to a coil does it feel? How tough is the construction? How does it hold up to street? Dj? Aggressive trail? Feel as good as my Vanilla 125 RLC? have my doubts but maybe the adjustment trade off is worth it?

My other option is to just set up my Van RLC to 80mm travel and leave it.

PS I'm running this setup on a Planet X new Jack Flash.

Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

The chassis is the same as the Vanilla with air internals. I'm not sure how well the internals would hold up to abuse, but I know people who DJ on Fox Floats. I'm not sure if the Talas would effect it.

Oh yeah...it feels just as good as a coil fork, as far as I can tell.

I have a TALAS now and I rode a Vanilla for a few months. They were on pretty different bikes (vanilla on a Cortina 4130, TALAS on a Giant VT) but I got a good feel for both. I think that the Vanilla might have a slight edge in feel on small bumps but it feels similar to the TALAS for the most part. I would definitely take the TALAS over the Vanilla for the adjustability. Partially, that's because on the Vanilla, med springs were too soft for me and firm were a bit too stiff. With the TALAS I can hit a nice midrange or change the ride of the bike for different kinds of terrain. I don't really use the travel adjust (I keep it at max travel, sometimes lock it out) but it's stupid simple to use and works well.

My last bike had a talas RLC, and it had brake dive like mad. Can make things a little hairy on the steeps. Other than that, it was a nice fork.
