Had a problem where one of the pivot bolts came out on a ride and messed up the threads a bit, couldn't get it back in, tried the bolt from the other side, it wouldn't work either, 14mmx1mm, worked perfectly. Now I can't get a new bike

I would have re-tapped the hole with whatever I had on hand. But whenever possible repairing threads with a forming tap will result in a stronger repair.

Yeah, hard enough finding any 14x1.0 tap, let alone forming tap. The tapered end helped a little to guide it IMO and after tapping, bolts went in easily, no issues.

Sounds like an ownership of any frame is hard if you don't check your pivot bolts periodically.

So.... broken chainstay and now this. Maybe your bike is trying to say you should get a new bike
