it's legit -- i came across the link from the IRS website. http://irs.gov/efile/article/0,,id=201897,00.html?

it seems to work well. however, keep the following in mind:

- don't type too fast. the text entry boxes get muddled up and transpose letters.
- just open a new tab or window with the IRS's form instructions in pdf form, e.g. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040a.pdf
- don't guess at your Adjusted Gross Income from last year. call the IRS instead or look at your return from last year and figure it out. IRS: 1-800-829-1040 ext 2,4.

I think this gives the public far too much credit LOL - 1. knowing what information they need and 2. knowing where to put it!!

Would it be stupid to file at a public wi-fi hot spot?
this website is as secure as 128-bit RSA or Blowfish or AES or whatever browsers are using these days. unless you have a keylogger that someone snuck onto your machine you'll be safe.

While I hate to give props to turbo tax, I've now done my taxes manually twice, and I get a return that is $250 less than turbo tax's return.
At a cost of $20, that's a note worthy increase in return.

Figured it out... Turbo Tax is not including my taxable interest... wtf? They are basically stealing from the country (by allowing you to submit false returns), AND setting you up for an audit.

Also, with TT, if you accidentally select a higher level package than you need, you can not lower the level without deleting your login... even if it's the login you have been using for years. WTF?

Ahahaha! I bitched enough about the inability to downgrade to the basic level and how I wasn't sure why I kept doing business with Intuit and they waived my fees for Fed and State. Ahahaha! Sometimes I heart call centers full of uneducated people.

Awesome stuff, Toshi.

I use H&R Block online because I gotz people. It's easy, it's cheap, and if I can't find my taxes from previous years, I can log in and print a new set.

Yup I used them to this year. Though I also now have to amend my return. Was very simple if you have simple taxes to do. My relocation complicated things quite a bit. Submitted mine Friday night, they were approved less than 12 hours later.
