Hey everyone. Did a quick search but didn't find anything on point. Heading to Sedona from SF the week of Thanksgiving. Thought I would tap the considerable monkey knowledge here for some suggestions for places to ride nearby. We're van-lifeing it and can be pretty flexible, but we don't want to spend the whole week driving.

Any ideas for spots we should not miss?

Can't speak for Cali but Flagstaff and Sedona both are great biking.
Shultz Creek is super fun. Its green but its fast and flowly but not a groomed trail, so theres some small jumps and drops and lots of rocks. and theres a dirt jump park at the bottom.

Ft. Tuthill has a MTB park. Theres a skills building area where i FUBAR'd my wrist, a small pump track and Dirt jump track. Soldiers Trail runs around the perimeter of it.

Don't know your skillz but white line in Sedona is epic. Never rode it myself because i would die, but the videos

if you're going mostly through CA, how about ducking up to St George and Hurricane (via Vegas) then south the rest of the way hitting Flagstaff and then Sedona?

then leave town because most of the rest of it sucks around there. But those two are legit.

If you're going through Tahoe take HWY 50 and hit up the Lovers Leap DH in Strawberry. Just checked out the area for the first time and it's like Tahoe riding but the dirt is better and there are less people. The homie (Squirrel) who owns the Strawberry Station will shuttle you up the hill for a nice long day of riding if he's got time.

Haven't been there in years, but there is also Bootleg Canyon outside of Las Vegas. I would take St George over that though. Itching to get back to Flagstaff... it's been a decade and I hear they've been busy builders.

If you're going thru SoCal, any of the Mt Wilson action is awesome as well as the Laguna Wilderness area. mt Wilson for rocks, Laguna more hardpack.

Flagstaff is great, but that time of the year it may be a frozen mess. Prescott and Sedona are usually in the clear and even if something happens, it doesn't take long to clear out. Many many miles of riding around Prescott, the ability to do 65mi or longer loops and lots of vertical. Not as much tech though, except for the more trials-ish Dells areas that aren't really part of the bigger forest trail networks. If you can hook up with a local or use the http://prescott-trailmaps.com/ maps in conjunction with trailforks, you can ride for a few days.

Thanks everyone, some good ideas here. I've been out there years ago and we definitely thought about Bootleg. It's been a while and I expect there's some new stuff, so we might check that out again. We really digged Kernville, and I've heard good things about Prescott as well, so those are definitely contenders. The Utah stuff is probably a bit off the path for us for this trip, but will remain on our list for the future.

Cannell was excellent last weekend. Dirt shoulda be tackier by Tgiving.
Imho the other trails there aren’t worth the time if you are road tripping to other spots too.

Prescott: Yesss...
