This will probably earn me neg rep, but cutting back 99.9% on beer was the best thing I ever did to lose weight.
In May of last year due to a health issue I had to stop drinking alcohol cold turkey, which is bitterly ironic since I love beer...oh, and also because the wifey and I run a small winery. I didn't increase my exercise level or change much else in my diet, but the weight just poured right off. In May I was 225 lbs and by October I was at 195 lbs and that is where I've stayed, which I think is OK for 6'3" and 45.
I freaking love beer and am a horrible beer snob, so dropping it from my routine was miserable, but totally worth it. I'll enjoy a sip or two every now and then. If it is something really special, I'll have a whole pint. :wild:
so far I have kept my target weight. Originally my waist was a 44, at 280 pounds, then it dropped to a 34 at 200 pounds. I'm now at a 33 and still at 200 but working out like crazy. not bad for a 60 year old ex lard ass
