I think a belt driven 10 speed BB (like a Rohlhoff) would be perfect.

1x10 seems interesting on a am rig but I'm really happy with sram 1x9 so it simply couldn't be justified...at the moment...
Paul Thumbies w/ Ultegra 8-speed barcons. Even tougher than the original thumbshifters.

1x9 works brilliantly for me. No interest in 1x10. I'll only change when 9spd is no longer available.

The same with road 9 speed.
10spd road, on the other hand, is decidedly somewhat fiddly.
It seems to be close to a zero sum game.
