The big fat movie thread

In the land of saints and sinners

Bit of a departure from the standard Liam Neeson saves the world type flick, Follows the old-school IRA/Mob life with a bit simpler screenplay, a little slow but more cerebral on most plot lines, The character development is good but is predictable. The accents are very heavy and a bit hard to discern but overall decent flick with good cinematography and direction

The Fall Guy

Fun movie for those of us who watched it back in the day, had some nods to the original, some funny cameos but mostly some pretty rad stunts. Worth buying
Halfway through this one. Not sure the wife will want to sit through the second half.

Mad max, Furiosa

Def has the Aussie flavor and feel and a nod to the originals, fun for an origin story, disappointed they didn't use the original cast but Hemsworth wasn't the best for the role and I think his acting was a little off and the CGI was a bit rushed but overall it was worth the rental.

Alien: Romulus

Always been a huge franchise fan but this one was great.

There are many nods, lines, cameos, and scene recreations of Ridley Scott originals. New variations of xenomorphs and synthetics. The practicals were a welcome sight to the now nearly all CGI and FX plastered films of late.

Bit of a timeline tie-in with the original alien, Prometheus, and covenant and even filled a couple of plot holes from the franchise's beginning.

It is worth the theater trip

Never even heard of it, but I'm definitely intrigued.
If 1:45 of a live action, stylized roadrunner cartoon is appealing it's worth a try. I give them credit for making something genuinely creative and unique but it was tough to get through the entire thing.
