i saw killing them softly last week.....remove the bush/obama sound bites and the movie is pretty fvcking good....the movie tanked in the states.....should have marketed it as a art house movie...
That's a problem with perception. Marketing as a thriller/comedy you get a 7milion opening bomb. Marketing it as a art house you would get a 3 milion dolar opening surprise. 7 milion is better than 3 milion. Even if drop will be 65% and not 45% in the next weekend. Have in mind that a very anti neo liberal message(though contrary to what some people say the director suggests a moderate capitalism like Canada or Australia, not 1970s Sweeden) already cuts you off many viewers, same for no action, no women and long talks about goat screwing.

Zero Dark Thirty - It's a movie you respect but it's a bit harder to digest than Hurt Locker. It's more of a Journalist view on the hunt. It also kinda shows Hurt locker was footage + script + very good casting of Renner, not really direction.

Chastain is amazing though and it is worth seeing the movie for her. Nr.1 Oscar contender this year for sure.

Drive part 2?

From what I gather it's 45 minutes of drive, 1h of police procedural/politics, 1h of boredom.

Also I seriously recomend "Kill List" to anyone who likes Twin Peaks, The Kingdom (Trier, not the US actioner) or The Shining. It's not as good in terms of craftsmanship but it has the same eerie atmosphere and it stays with you. Can't say that about many movies I've seen lately. Just don't read or watch anything. Go in blindly.

Just watched Holy Motors. It has to be one of the most unique movies I've seen in a very long time. It's a movie Quentin Tarantino would be proud of.

It is french subtitled but definitely worth the watch.

I doubt it. No dialogue, not a really post modernist picture. Very uneven and I don't like hiding behind "artism" to not try hard to show good craftsmanship.

Wanted to post it. I'm super hyped even if a little worried if it is action and then script working around it like in Sucker Punch. Really wish it was my company distributing it so I could see a bit more earlier.

On a completely unrelated topic - Ender's Game trailer is comming soon.

Ok I've seen it and I'm an idiot. It's a great movie. Probably the best movie of 2013 so far by MILES. Didn't like blue valentine, loved this. Amazing flick.

Iron Man 3 Sucks. They totally devaluated the characters, the antagonists are **** and generic, the humor is childish and the mix of trying to make a gritty movie and a movie for kids is a really bad idea.

waiting for reboot....i'm really not a robert downey jr fan.
I like him, he fits the character perfect. The first one was good with a ****ty 3rd act, the 2nd was ****, this one is ****.

Also there won't be a reboot soon. The movie will pass 1 billion dollars globaly in a few days.

Quick Cannes roundup from the movies I am allowed to speak about:

Only God Forgives - Form over function. I liked drive but this has no plot. Very nice and great sound but more Spring Breakers than Drive. Only worth for Kirsten

Shield of Straw - it's a bad Miike movie. All you need to know. One good actor and it's a typical Jap Actioner. Meh

Inside Llewyn Davis - all the parts that make the movie are very nice but at some point it looses focus in favor of existentional pondering. Still it's a decent watch.

You're Next - I know it's not a festival screening but it's an awesome horror deconstruction. If you liked cabin in the woods or were ever angry because horror characters only died beause they were stupid this is a movie for you.

Homeland - An interesting look at Algerians and Arabs from the point of view of a young Algerian born and raised in France in a liberal family.(as in not strict religiously, not as in Bill Maher in a burka)

Just seen "Kings of Summer" and it is an awesome movie. It reminds me a bit of Garden State but it is way funnier even if a bit lighter. A big recommend. Probably one of the best movies I've seen this year.

Also Pain and Gain is a blast. Never suspected I'd say that about a Bay movie. It may be stupid but in a very fun way. Especially if you ever got the gym bug.

Also I saw Ender's Game on Friday but can't say much outside of the fact it is quite true to the book and you can feel they worked with the author closely.

Started watching A Serbian Film. Got to the 1-hour mark and the little lady called it. Gonna need to watch the rest later. This movie is certainly messed up. People who are messed up told me it was messed up. It is on YouTube. Proceed with caution.

How the hell it passed the YT no porn thingy? It comes quite close to being porn.

I have no idea where I am
OK, so I'm currently watching the Great Gatsby, a period piece set in the '20s, and the soundtrack is hip hop. Nothing against the genre of course, but in this case it is becoming a distracting audio anachronism. I'd much prefer to hear the music of the era.

I'm yet to see Rush but Gravity was awesome even though I hate sandra and some scenes in it were cheesy as hell.

From recent movie Machete Kills is ****. I enjoyed the first one, this one is just badly made and unfunny. Tries to hard to be a bad movie while it really is a badly made movie.

Since now I can say I watched Ender's Game - I wathed it with a few fans of the book and they weren't dissapointed. It's not a game changing movie but it's well made, it's true to the book as far as adaptations go and it's a good watch.

Any monkeys seen Walter Mitty? As much as I dislike serious roles from Stiller I liked that movie a lot. It may not be a well crafted story from a technical standpoint but I think most of the people on RM could relate to the obvious message of that movie.
