it's probably under 50K, but maybe not by much. in the 12 or so years my wife and i have been riding, we've probably had about 15 bikes, countless upgrades, and at least 7 or so western bike-related vacations.

Been riding bikes since I was 4... paying for my own parts (minus the occasional x-mas or b-day gifts) since I was 16. Like many others it adds up to a butt load of cashish. Next year looks the same. Hopefully I can get myself a new DH rig. Oh and new armor... gotta have new armor... oh and a helmet.. and socks... and on and on and on and on....

Probably around the $50K mark in my entire riding career, especially once you factor in trips and holidays. It might be more actually, I keep remembering other trips I've been on..

hell, I've bought $1000 worth of tubes

With my custom bike due in October, that'll put me over $5k, but I voted <5

Including travel accomodations and such from my parents, and my new bike that doubles the amount I've ever spent on a bike...easily about 10k since mid 2002 when I started biking.

I am on my 3rd DH bike + almost 3 full years of racing.
I am on my 2nd DJ/Street bike.
Currently building a commuter as last commuter died.
1 bmx.

In 6 years.

Incidentally, between my brother & I, we have had 16 bikes stolen from us since we were about 14/15, mainly BMXs, but also 2 dh/fr bikes & a few commuters/bangers & 1 racer/road bike that wasn't ours but locked in same place.

I dont race for this reason, but being in college w/ no money might have had something to do with it. Now that im out, i expect to spend alot of $$$.

does "<10k" indicate "less than"? just curious.

Between the husband and me we've easily spent over 5k, but under 10k (maybe just under... :D ) since 2003.

caveat: even with trips to the ER, I bet my cycling habit is cheaper than the therapy and diet books I'd have invested in otherwise...

Well I've been riding five years, MBC has been riding for 7-8 years. I put our combined biking related expenditures well over $10k, but well under $50k. If I had to guess a ballpark figure, I'd say we've spent about $23,640.19.
