And now in the daylight.

Saw 4 ferraris today. People love their fancy cars in this town! Also ran into an old race car driver who was vacuuming a malibu in his driveway when we rode past. His collection was amazing, and he had one down to the chassis that he was restoring. Fave was the 1973 e-type though!
So here is one of them up close. When he pulled out, he definitely let everyone know he had a ferrari. Proceeded to so a three point turn in the middle of the street and zoomed off.

Over here in Aotearoa we’re getting BYD EVs from later this year (Q3 apparently, so soon). They will probably be our cheapest ‘EV with good range’ for a while. This is the first model available, the Atto 3:

Also not quite cars but this is actually probably cooler:

Uh, the messia is actually a capitalist: 20% below the regular wages in the industry. Wonder how the Tesla cult will defend this.
Not the first US company to not do their research before doing business in Germany.

F1 season…
Yeah, speaking of. Went to my first F1 race this year. Let’s just say it was a massive disappointment. And their kids zone was a f’ing joke. Really not my scene.

On the plus side, the metro to the site was smooth and efficient. Never had to wait, never felt overly crowded despite the throngs of people.

The weather was also brilliant.

MMike and I went a couple times years ago. We had general admission tickets and got to the track at like 7am.

Watching the pace cars goof around on track was the highlight.

You could pretty much just roam around and get different vantage points and still settle on a good spot to watch.

I’m sure things have changed…

I would love to go to a race eventually. We have a dirt track a mile away, I love listening to the races. I grew up down the street from the fairgrounds, so it has some nostalgia.

File under whoops wrong pedal I guess...... and a driver that froze.
*edit* or a possibility of software glitch I suppose as an outside chance.

Seems like, if you gunna be driving a car in a building off the ground, building should be able to catch said car if it hits a wall or window, in case of accident.

And only a third floor resulted in death to both. Assume they were not buckled.

Dunno about that, but good chance they were. Looking at the roof though, there probably wasn't survivable space and they probably landed on the roof. Falling off a building like that will easily crush the survivable space that is intended to just not crush if the car flips. If it lands upside down from 50 feet up, all bets are off. In crash dynamics, survivable space is a huge point. That's basically what all the crash protections give you in a crash.

Somebody took the Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak and replaced all the carbon aero with cardboard and duct tape in Gran Turismo.
