Car dealerships are seemingly still screwed for supply around here, wife and I visited a couple over the weekend.

Ford dealership was pretty sad and only had a single example but completely the wrong trim for what we wanted to take a seat in. Ram dealership had more salesmen outside in the sun than vehicles to sell.

3.1ish full charges today, plus regen action coming over Berthoud Pass each way == lots of electric miles.

With how far they took the aero, it's not surprising. It's a huge difference from the regular GT3. This RS has no frunk, it's just vanes and aero shit to control front downforce. It's all about track time and it's not going to be a daily driver, it's a tow-to-the-track-car that you can drive to a car meet too, but it's too far removed from road drive-ability to be exciting or interesting IMO.

This is why I have an attraction to the touring.

I'm willing to bet I'll see at least two of the new RS a weekend driving past my house going to the canyons, all with some form of a Nuremburg sticker on the quarter window. I think the most I've seen on a given weekend was a baker's dozen, all in different colors so it's not just 1 guy.

I don't think my spine would approve of daily driving the new RS, but they're decently popular around these parts, the poverty spec GT3 is insanely popular as a DD.

Given it's a "road" car and no longer has the frunk, at least you can bungee your luggage or shopping to the rear wing.

No, you can't, because when you slow down, the wing actuators cause two parts to "open up" and would drop it out the back. When you go fast, it locks down and closes.

It has 17k miles...

In March of this year, the car went through an engine-out service performed by Porsche of Monterey, which included installing new camshafts, ignition coils, spark plugs, belts, battery, and new Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires. Plus, the brake fluid was also flushed.

Need to grab some winter tires for the blue box, as clearly I'm not purchasing a car this winter.

Looks like I can get something like Nokian Nordman 7, GT Radial Icepro 3 and others around the $148 per tire mark.

Or splurge on Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5's, at $183 per tire. There's a $75 rebate available, which when received would bring them down to only a $35 premium (not taking into account that there are probably rebates for the others as well).

Worth it? @Toshi

I'd go for the latest gen non-studded Hakkas, which look to be those R5s indeed. I've been very happy with mine (R3 SUV on minivan, R2 SUV on the Land Cruiser as those were both current when purchased).

I got two sets of studded Toyos. One for the 'maro and one for the stinger. I like stopping on ice.

Must be nice, studded tires are illegal here, unless you are from way up north. Though with how the winter temps fluctuate up and down here, they aren't really needed. You'd be driving on pavement half the time.

I think I'll go for the Nokians. The Pirelli winters I had before were pretty good, so it'll be nice to see if there is any difference.

@Toshi what's the wear been like on them? My only hesitation is buying these and then getting a new car. I'll probably have a hard time selling them, as they are "tiny" 195/65r15's :brows:

Maybe I should just forget about a new car and see how long this thing will go for. It's like the energizer bunny..

I'm getting Nokians for the Sprinter this week, but probably won't put them on until week three of November.

Yeah, we haven't hit the wall yet, but we will sometime soon, maybe next month. We did have a bit of snow and a cold morning a few days back, which tends to freeze on the ground, but it didn't last long. Later on in the season, we'll get black ice due to the high pressure, cold temps and ground temp being so much cooler than air. You can "see" it if you know what you are looking for and it's not too much of a mystery like my parents use to threaten. Then there's the snow that will just get impacted and turn into ice over time...not to mention if we get freezing rain, but the snow will eventually create an ice layer on everything and apart from the treated highway, it'll be varying degrees of frozen surfaces. I agree if you aren't going to be driving on ice, studs aren't very necessary, no difference if you are driving on snow. IDK if it's a conspiracy or something, but nearly every comparo I see has studded tires against studless on snow, where it doesn't matter.

Mainly, the low sun angle creates long shadows and snow/ice doesn't "burn off" the ground. We gotta get back to late February to get that working for us again.
