May not be the best place to ask, but what the hell.

I have always wanted to zip tie a harmonica to the underside of a buddies truck.
We chirp on each other something fierce and I seem to come out on the losing end a bit to often for my liking, so... :triniti:

I just don't know if it would be worthwhile as I'm not sure if you really would hear it?

Ya, I know; Imma dick.

Can someone explain what's going on in this video? Will the airbags not work with those resistors in there?
I didn't watch it all the way through, but they'd put resistors in place of the seatbelt pre-tensioners.

When you're in a crash, the pre-tensioner fires and pulls the seatbelt tight, pulling you back into the seat. Presuming that car had been in a crash previously, the tensioners would have needed replacing, probably a couple of hundred each at least, versus a few cents for the resistor.

Cheap kazoo might be better, but you could test either by holding it out the window while driving.

Deliberately bypassing safety features and asking dude to program the airbag module and basically erase the errors, it seems like.

The resistors are put there to fool the system into thinking something is there and working, when it's not.

I watched this at work so I missed part of the middle, but he was also going to check other things.

Video also shows other examples of other cars that had safety stuff bypassed.

The middle of the vid was where he called him again and called him out on it.

Legendary German car seat manufacturer Recaro Automotive has filed for bankruptcy, been deemed insolvent, and was approved for self-administration by its local district court, Autocar reports. The automotive seat manufacturing arm of Recaro (the airplane seats, child safety seats, and gaming seats businesses remain unaffected) has been around since 1906. The company changed hands in 2020, now controlled by investment firm Raven Acquisitions, and has taken just four years to completely eat itself from the inside.

I've never owned a Recaro, they never felt comfortable to me, plenty of Sparco's, Corbeau's, Simpsons, PRP's, and the occasional Jegs/Summit generics
Maddie had a Recaro car seat, I have had a bunch of seats in various projects. The OE Cadillac CTS-V seats are fantastic. It's just another example of what happens when private equity take over. A few folks make a shit ton of money and everyone else loses.

Recaro is an OE mfr, like brembo and bosch. They make no-name crap and good stuff, whatever someone wants to buy (as a car mfr).

Hey @Toshi, what's your take on the Volvo EVs? I saw a C40 and XC40 the other day, they look like normal cars but with batteries.
they're ok. Sensus is maddening. if I were picking for the car itself I'd go Kia/Hyundai, and if for lease price clearly Toyota/Lexus.

That is basically a very expensive Ford version of a Corvette kit car.

this reminds me... I noticed one of my low-beam headlights is blown. will replace it, but on the Canadian Tire website, they say they should ideally be replaced in pairs... any truth to this? And also, should I switch to LED bulbs, or keep it halogen? I frikkin hate all those "cool white"/blue lights in the winter, I find them super aggressive. I don't want to be "one of them"... but I don't know if those are special aftermarket lights, or whether all LED lights are that annoying tint...

I will typically replace both when one goes out just because modern vehicles are a pain to get into and you have to have the hands of a smol child in order to get the old one out and the new one in. The after-market ones come in so many varieties now that it's almost better to replace them with stock unless an after-market version is cheaper.

Do NOT switch to LED, that can jack your electrical system due to way low resistance compared to incandescent.

Do NOT switch to LED, that can jack your electrical system due to way low resistance compared to incandescent.

An LED essentially has zero resistance (fixed voltage drop) but can only handle a small amount of current before letting the smoke out. So an LED bulb must have some kind of current control device in the circuit and will overall draw less current than an incandescent bulb. This can be done with an inline resistor which is dumb as it would consume a lot of power, so typically a constant current power supply is used.

A DC to DC power supply will use a high frequency switching device. This will generally generate a lot of high frequency noise if not properly filtered out. Good filtering requires a good design and good components. So a quality LED bulb with a good DC/DC converter with appropriate certifications would be fine, Alibay Express bulbs (basically Amazon these days) could generate noise and cause problems with the rest of the cars electrical system. But it really has nothing to do with the LED resistance as directly connecting one will release the magic pixies rather quickly.
