Just saw one of those VW camper EVs in the red colourway, which was the one I would have picked. I’ve only seen a few of the yellow so far. It’s a very dark red. Sad face. Just like the actual battery vs. prelaunch promises, it’s a bit of a let down.

Brah, if you like shitty old Hiluxes you should totally move to NZ.
I would if I could. The diesel was never offered here and is FAR superior to the gas V6 of that vintage. I've had 5 Toyota trucks from 85-93 model years and all were fantastic except for the 2 with a V6 had no power compared to the 22R 4 cylinder. My 85 and 86 trucks were non SR5 carbureted.

Fuel gauge on our 1998 GMC K2500 has decided it just wants to spin fully 360 deg in a clockwise direction, rather than just give a meaningful reading....yay. It only halts spinning if it gets wedged against the oil pressure needle or you turn the ignition off.

that they're leasing already shows demand has dried up. only so many incels with enough available cash out there

It's like 6-10 days from order to delivery. I was blown away by how many reservations they got, but I was more blown away by the 2% conversion rate from reservation to sale.

You know though...at GT3 prices and inflation...that's probably going to be worth like 5 million dollars in a couple years if you don't drive it.

A coworker's wife works financing at a Porsche dealership. He mentioned she runs reports on people whose job is listed as "Only Fans", and they often pull in $30K a month. The idea of someone pulling in $30K/month applying for financing made me chuckle.
if it's less than expected returns on other uses for money makes all the sense in the world

Yeah, auto financing is super cheap these days.
there are still manufacturer supported promo rates here and there. money factor on my super cheap Busy Forks lease was set by Toyota Financial services as 0.00001, which works out to be 0.024% if my math is correct

If you get 0%, you use it as a 0% loan, then take that money you would have bought the car with and invest it or buy a house or some shit, then that essentially becomes 0%.
