Okay, big fan of the chili mac. Made some yesterday with leftover chorizo and regular hamburger, came out great. Suggested to the Frau that perhaps next time I will use rotini noodles instead of elbows…you would think I insulted Lombardi or the Packers (Another story for another day…)

Any other chili Mac fans with controversial/radical/revoloutionary noodle opinions?

when i do mac and cheese from scratch, i use penne per the below recipe. i don't see any reason you couldn't add some meat to it, depending on how much you might want to consider increasing the amount of milk/cream/cheese a bit.

I did start my appreciation with the chili mac MRE, now that you mention it. The Tabasco mini bottle, maybe some jalapeno cheese spread...hell to the yeah!!
And not just there...but in the squad-rations, the tins that were heated up with alcohol heater and served and of course at the chow hall. You could always count on chili-mac being available.

LOL had to lookup what Rotini noodles are (it was the noodles on the end that threw me... to me noodles = Asian & Pasta = Italian)

I've def done this with pasta spirals and also with Pene.
The spirals hold the cheese sauce brilliantly IMO.
