So you posted it because.......

Because it sucks that they debate dumb sh!t like this. I didn't have some huge point, other than our politicians waste their time with crap like this. Why can't our government do what we want and resist debating crap for months instead of action? I hate rich people that play this game.

I thought this was going to be about how some people in the south do reinactments of the civil war where they win...
They did win. The few rich whites are owning the world and have the darkies slaving for them (if they're lucky enough to have gotten a job due to company "rationalizations"), we eat our selves fat while they starv, we get all the schooling we want while they are lucky to get 6years, we get bikes for our 12th birthday while they get sold by their parents so they can afford to take care of the smaller children, their lives aren't worth a damn thing while our white asses are invaluable.

the biggest poll conducted since the invasion sez this: "The survey, published yesterday, found that contrary to the views of many Western analysts, most Iraqis do not believe they are in a civil war."

source: the australian.

i'm cautiously optimistic, as it does not reveal sampling methods, questions asked, & other details which were used to critique both major lancet studies.

it does, however, say the poll was conducted before the u.s. announced plans for a surge (i argue this gives it a little more legitimacy), and included over 5,000 iraqis over 18 yrs.

the final note of encouragement is this: "We've been polling in Iraq since 2005 and the finding that most surprised us was how many Iraqis expressed support for the present Government," said ORB managing director Johnny Heald.

"Given the level of violence in Iraq, it shows an unexpected level of optimism."

Despite the sectarian divide, 64per cent of Iraqis still want to see a united Iraq under a central national government.

Just out of curiosity, do you happen to know what percentage of the population the largest religious sect in Iraq happens to be?

[off-the-cuff, before cia factbook lookup]: 3:1 shia:sunni, but this is 95% of total pop

[after cia factbook lookup]: 2:1 shia:sunni, but i did make one rather significant error: i didn't realize most kurds (who aren't arabs & are more like turkemen) are sunni.

so, i'm about as smart as the most powerful man on earth. [green; that's how i like my apples. why do you ask?]

Just an FYI about the CIA factbook; whilst it is a good place to get a big picture look, I've found several 'facts' which are pretty far from reality on it - for example the percentage of ethnic populations in NZ is significantly off.
