pretty juicy rumours from what I've heard...leave an open door and someone will try and use it to their advantage, and not having a testing regime was that open door. I guess the saving grace is that one or two EWS events happen as sanctioned by national federations so are subject to testing.

Disappointed but not surprised. I'd hazard a guess that whoever tested positive happened to dominate recently and doesn't have the build of a regular endubro

Weed's still a banned substance, I believe.

You really think governing bodies / organizations involved with the effing Olympics aren't super conservative? The entire shit is based on 1950s-era corrupt norms and cold war BS. Weed is a no-go, diddling the gymnast girls is just fine.

I'd wager the rumored bust being discussed is for PEDs though. Would be cooler if it was pot Belge.

So Ratboy's quitting was an early warning?

This. I blame the UCI. Somehow managing to fuck up the EWS in the off season.

I'm guessing stimulants, oxygen vector boosters and possibly good old anabolics. Weight loss stuff too if the road guys have any influence. Look for riders who have dodgy trainers.

Other riders wouldn't care if this was just weed.

EPO world series,

Since ebikes are now a category, might as well let anyone who races in those take whatever they want.

Would like to see someone pedaling a enduro rig 50mph uphill, 1000 watt motors and blood full of whatever

And perhaps rides a Yeti?
Ah come on... I'm not saying anyone is or isn't, but so many people have insinuated that. I reckon wait and see what the results say. Its kind of a dick move suggesting anyone is on the juice if there's even a chance that they're clean.

I remember the first women's Olympic XC gold medalist nearly breaking down after some sour grapes suggested she only won because of banned substances. Must be shit training that hard and then having sore losers sling mud.

Wait till the list is released and then sling mud and poop.

Actually, how the hell have people even seen the list already?

If you wanna do PEDs and ride a motorbike, there is already this thing called Supercross.

The testing was done right after the round 3 at Olargues in France the 12th of May. I don't think it takes 6 months to get the results which means that anybody who tested positive has been able to pursue the rest of the season as if nothing happened...

I thought the french testing agency overseeing it typically waits about a year before releasing any results, I'm not sure what's involved in testing and how long it takes, but I can definitely see the EWS keeping their mouth shut until the actual testing agency comes forth with results, they're not out to crush anybodies careers or fuck up their organization without definitive proof that somebody was doping I'd think.

I don't know the details of the procedure. I will check if I can get more information.
But of course, they will not give any official results until they are 100% sure and they might even not go public to protect the identity of the athlete...

IF it turns out that PEDs were rampant in EWS, I for one will be taking a break from watching, just like I did with le Tour and MLB. I still don’t believe the Tour is clean and barely follow it anymore, and the olympics are obviously a joke when it comes to this.

As funny as it is, PEDs fucking suck.

Get ready for a whole lot of people who work in the bike industry telling you that it was OK for whatever reason... everybody was doing it, an already talented athlete just added 1% chemically, oops he forgot to notify, blah blah...

I don't get this squeaky clean attitude to watching entertainment media at all. But I'd watch bionic mutants compete on bikes if they were doing superhuman things on them.

I don't think athletes who may be taking drugz shouldn't be anyone's first reason for not watching the ioc olympiss show either.

In many ways I agree with you, since I occasionally watch professional American tackle sport, and I'd wager a large percentage of the athletes on the field are using all manner of PEDs. Which is why I get a chuckle out of my fellow office trolls, festooned with various NFL team accoutrements, when they say road cycling is a dirty sport. Sure it is, just like the NFL and probably the NBA for that matter. I'd also be shocked if professional soccer leagues weren't rife with PEDs.

As for "gravity oriented" mountain bike disciplines, I think we collectively hoped that since there wasn't much money in it (compared to ball sports or road cycling ) and that no amount of oxygen vectors are going to give you magic rock Jesus powers, it was a pretty clean endeavor. But anytime theres a meaningful endurance element to a sport, there's the potential for things like EPO to be a part of it. While I hope it isn't the case, I won't be surprised if some EWS guys are on a TDF type "program".

I hope they're all on drugs. I've been trying to get that fast and failing, it can't be the beer intake, the fear or the lack of training/skill/coordination - IT MUST BE DRUGS.

The rider or riders involved must know they're suspect/under investigation. If anything, I think they'd probably drop out of the limelight a bit rather than dominate all season while they're under investigation.

For the record, that's why my name wasn't up there with the top guys. Needed to lay low for a bit
