Newly Formed ‘Federation’ of Tea Party and Grassroots Groups Announced

In an effort to build its credibility and influence nationwide, the tea party movement on Thursday announced the formation of a "federation" of tea party groups.

Mark Skoda, a member of the Memphis Tea Party, told a crowd of roughly 200 conservative activists gathered outside the state capitol that 21 factions of the movement will form the National Federation Tea Party. Skoda said the federation will act as a "rapid response" to "misinformation" allegedly put forth by the "mainstream media."
LOL, before they go off calling themselves a "Federation", I wonder if any of them have bothered to look up just what constitutes a federation and the history of some other "federations".

But the conservative movement, which has prided itself on its refusal to formally merge with the Republican Party, refuted claims Thursday that the tea party seeks to form its own political party.

"That would be political suicide," Mark Williams, chairman of Tea Party Express, told FoxNews.com. "America is a two party system and to create a third party is to reinvent the wheel. This federation was formed simply as a rapid response to put out brushfires in the mainstream media."

"This is a not a single leadership formation," added Skoda.
Political suicide, perhaps, but more than likley, a lesson learned from Ross Perot. You don't have to get the most votes to win (influence) an election.

Reminds me of this when I hear Federation:

I'll send $20 to any teabagger who runs on a 3rd party ticket. Keep fighting the good fight, and don't let anybody stop you, lol.
Doesn't running in an election stand in contrast to the Teahadist Movement? I thought their mission was to overthrow the government in the name of Democracy.

If you don't think they will run somebody in 2012, you're crazy. It won't be at the Presidential level, obviously, but mark my words, they will run someone at the Representative level for sure.

It's already starting for this year, just not as an established party. They will take over the independent ticket, Ralph Nader has gotten too old and irrelevant at this point.

I can't wait for the statements about "them damn Europeans influencing and running our country" and throw the EU or go with the "China is taking over the world" as an example of something to rail against. While calling themselves a Federation...

Tea Party Target Stupak Won't Seek Re-election

Stupak has drawn criticism from opponents of the recently enacted health care overhaul after leading a bloc of anti-abortion Democrats whose last-minute support was crucial to its approval by the House.

The Tea Party Express is calling for his defeat at rallies in his sprawling northern Michigan district this week.
