If you were to run a set of tires for trail/FR/DH what would you run? State a front, rear, duro, and the size of each.

I would run;
FRONT-Minion F 60D 2.5
REAR-Minion R 60D 2.5

Now you only get 2 tires to run all year for EVERYTHING. :nope:

Micchie comp 24, 2.5 fr/r, run as tubeless on UST rims. But that's b/c we don't have mud here...if it was wet, I'd consider Comp 16s.

Just get a set of trail tires, and a set of DH tires. Use the DH tires for freeride.

2.7 Mobster Slow Reezay or Super Tacky Front
2.7 High Roller Slow Reezay or Super Tacky Front

2.5 Mobster Slow Reezay or Super Tacky Rear
2.5 High Roller Slow Reezay or Super Tacky Rear

Need I say more? Any combo of High Rollers/Mobsters work!!!

I'm with this guy, I've raced 2 years on this set up and never had a problem, but I did find that if you go super tacky in the front and 50dur in the rear you get a little less rolling resistance and a front end that hooks it up. minions hook that sheit up 2.

Will Minions perform better in wet/muddy than a Nokian NBX DH?
I would think so... I've never owned Minions so I'm not sure whether they pack-up in mud or not? Nokians don't have the best grip around, especially in wet, but they are good allrounders though.

The answer to the original question is Michelin Comp 16 2.5 F/R. They work well in pretty much every condition and the grip is killer. The only set-back is that they don't roll that well.

For trail/FR/DH as a combo...

Minion DHF ST 2.35 single ply front and rear.

for DH only...

Minion DHF ST 2.5 UST front and rear.

If it was one set of tires for all year/all riding then:

Kenda Blue Groove 2.5 Kevlar on the front
Kenda Nevegal 2.5 Kevlar on the rear

Double ply sidewalls are too heavey for all-around riding which I do more of.

Hard one, since you added "trail" into the mix. I'll go with Kenda Blue Groove DH 2.5 front, Kenda Nevegal DH 2.5 rear. Me likey, just great rubber for lots of different conditions. Maybe a little slow for "trail" but being about 200lbs I need big tires for dh.

If you remove "trail" from the mix, switch to 2.7 in front for most rides, and a 2.7 in the rear for the real gnar.

ok, eliminate all the sponsored riders from this thread first-off.

i'd run either a comp 32/comp 24 combo, or a 2.5 minion SRY front/2.5 high roller 60D rear.

Front: Maxxis minion F 2.5 SRY
Rear: Maxxis highroller 2.5 (or 2.35 even) SRY or 60a

Alternatively, if you never have mud:
Front and rear: Michelin Comp24 2.5

Or if you do have mud occasionally:
Front and rear: Michelin Comp16 2.5

My SRY minion front is still going alright after 9 months (dh riding only), the rear got pretty torn up though.

i run-aside from DH racing-
Minion 2.35 front SRY single ply w/ stans nut
Minion 2.35 rear 60 Single ply w/stans nut

If i had to run the same tires for ever on my deserted island, but there was a DH race there,
Minion 2.5 Front SRY's 2 ply front and rear.

Man that little single ply 2.35 minion SRY defy's physics! honestly it's retarded how well it works.

Do the SRY Maxxis roll that much slower than the 60D? I really want to run Minions all year around for everything but I think the SRY might just roll to slow...... Anyone?

For trail/XC: Continental Vertical Pro UST

For lift/FR: Michie Comp 16 2.5

When I went to Whistler last year, that's what I took with me. Fortunately, swappin tires with UST is pretty easy. :)

Yess Britt the SRY does roll wat slower than 60.The 2.3 i run on the front isn't too bad if it has some air in it,but for the most part it is very noticeable.
I usually run 60 on the back except for race day.
