Watchin' you. Writing it all down.
Do as I say but not as I do. I'm trying to think what else that's called.

France where four prisoners from the U.S. naval base were arrested as soon as they arrived home in July, and haven't been heard from since. Under French law, they could remain locked up for as long as three years while authorities decide whether to put them on trial -- a legal limbo that their attorneys charge is not much different than what they faced at Guantanamo
France has embraced a law enforcement strategy that relies heavily on preemptive arrests, ethnic profiling and an efficient domestic intelligence-gathering network. French anti-terrorism prosecutors and investigators are among the most powerful in Europe, backed by laws that allow them to interrogate suspects for days without interference from defense attorneys. The nation pursues such policies at a time when France has become well known in the world for criticizing the United States for holding suspected terrorists at Guantanamo without normal judicial protections.

the actions of the french (substitute any other group) don't make gitmo one bit more right. when will you apologists realize this? ad hominem criticism doesn't get more valid when it's applied to a whole nation...

Does your knee hurt from jerking it that quickly?

I read my post again and could not find a single instance of where I said that it was an excuse or apology or anything else for Gitmo. Could you please show it to me? It is 2am and I am at work but I'm pretty sure I would have caught it. What I said was that while the French are complaining about Gitmo, they are in fact doing something similar. Again not an apology for US behavior but a question of French behavior. Or should we not worry about the French. Nor did I say they couldn't continue to complain about Gitmo. However, it is a bit do as I say not as I do.

But it does show that another country has turned to similar tactics in dealing with what it considers a threat to itself and its citizens. I'm not making a judgement (I'll leave that to you as you are so quick and so good at it). I'm simply showing that it is occurring other places which should be a concern.
