Conservative activists across the country are more obsessed than ever with removing the president from office. What do they think he's done to deserve it?

The nation will not actually default, because Obama (they assume, and probably rightly) will protect the Full Faith and Credit clause at the expense of the debt ceiling by assuming emergency powers to borrow money to pay the nation's bills. The Republicans then get to wring their hands and claim that Obama is finally being revealed as a fascist whose ultimate goal is to assume all the powers of government for himself. Expect lots of comparisons to Chancellor Hitler and the Enabling Act. Also expect lots of calls for Obama's impeachment.

When asked whether he would allow the government to default on its debt, Gohmert projected the responsibility for such circumstances onto Obama.

"No," he said, "that would be an impeachable offense by the president."

I was wondering about that... I want to see how the change of House rules gets handled regarding sedition. I would love to see Cruz, et al. react to that one.

Also, they can try to impeach Obama, but that is something that is handled through the Senate. The Senate is Dem controlled. I would love to see how quickly that attempt gets tossed.

The Cruz crowd won't let that stop them. These are clearly people who didn't pay much attention in Intro to Civics.

also, the only actual impeachable offenses (domestic warrantless wiretapping, domestic drones, drone strikes on US citizens) are things the GOP absolutely loves

And yet are the most vocal about being true to the Constitution......shocking......kind of like evangelicals spouting their adherance to the Scriptures.....I'm sensing a trend here.......

But the proposal also includes a stipulation that members of Congress, their staff and administration officials--including President Barack Obama--be forced obtain health insurance coverage through the exchanges established under Obamacare.
this is a deal breaker....

Maybe I'm confused here, if their government provided insurance covers the basics required under ACA, they shouldn't have to go to exchanges. The exchanges are for those who want to "shop around" or "get insurance", right?

Members of congress, and their staff, don't have to (can't, actually) go to the exchanges because their employer (the US Government) already provide health care coverage, just like every other federal employee. It's the same reason I'm "exempt" from the exchanges, my employer provides health care coverage.

they voted, its over for now, nothing has changed, except that Americans are more disgusted than ever with congress (not that that is a bad thing).

They held us hostage for two weeks, screwed over the finances of hundreds of thousands of Americans with their shutdown and have the nerve to claim they did it to save America. After all that per Moodys, the shut down cost us, the taxpayer,an extra 22 Billion dollars, which is more than all the costs associated with the first year of the affordable care act. yes they just pissed away 22 billion for nothing.
