A forest fire East of Ojai has been blowing a huge amount of smoke and ash over Santa Barbara the last two days. We went riding yesterday and the sky was weird orange tint and really bad air conditions, good thing we were only DHing.

Damn. My mom drove from Santa Clarita to the Bay and she was saying how the smoke there is nuts. Through the grapevine and all the way up I-5 is completely hazy, and the sky only cleared by that giant resovoir and Hwy 156. I guess the wind patterns completely trap the air at the bottom of the valley so there's no way for it to get out.

I lived out in claremont (east los) when the big fires hit san bernadino and the baldy area. We were like 3 miles from the fire line and it looked like the world was ending. It was dark in the middle of the day and it rained ash constantly. It even burned my riding spot.

Pretty cool watching the line come up and over the foothills right in front of campus though.

The wind is supposed to change, Santa Ana conditions are gonna push all the smoke into in SB again.

So the fire has already burned 99,000 acres, 35% contained.
