Looking at my potential new (used) commuter bike later today.

Started off the day sitting on my glasses. Hopefully they can be saved.

Back at work today. Not super motivated but got the get the year off to a good start.

My motivation at the moment is somewhat high. It might be due to most of the folks in our local riding group have all decided that gravel racing is there thing. And I can’t let them beat me this spring. Or it could that I was bored.

Coffeeing meow.

I had some fun with gravel when it started gaining popularity but then it turned into racing and the events got boring and more idiots showed up.

Ya. It’s becoming more roadie every year around here. But thankfully the couple I have a few spicy spots that usually claim a few collar bones and carbon wheels. It’s crazy what 3” deep frozen ruts can do to a wheel.

This is where I'm at with mountain biking. It used to be all the weirdos and misfits. Now it's bro-culture at its finest doin' it for the gram.

It puts the beans in the French Press…
don't forget to grind the beans. won't have the desired effect without that crucial first step.

tired AF over here. picked up boy at the airport last night and got home at 1 am. he's not usually talkative, but he seemed pretty excited to tell us all about his experience so we indulged. didn't get to sleep till 2. and youngest woke up at 7... I'm about to make espresso #2. glad to have the option to WFH.

Been feeling sucky since the 31st.

Day off, but I feel like I should be at work doing something and I don't know how to feel about that. It's been 20+ years at least since I felt any kind of responsibility towards a work place.

is gravel racing cycloross without the obstacles or just racing down random gravel roads in the country....

That sucks. Here there has always been a group of racers but they are easy to spot and then a group of nice people that has kept up the chill approach.

Yeah, maybe a little less racing but there's so much intensity around drops and doing dumb shit, rather than enjoying your time in the woods and disconnecting from real life. Is the term "toxic masculinity"? Kinda feels like it.

this is why i primarily ride solo.
same, although my road riding buddy is converting and it's nice to be with somebody who is just looking for another challenge. Another "middle-aged dad". Old riding buddies are committed to the "There's a non-zero chance I may die on this ride, so let's do it" lifestyle.

Agree so much. This is how me and my stable riding buddy go about our weekly rides.

Also why I after one year trial gave up on Strava membership as it did nothing to promot fun.

saw the most recent movie with my youngest last year. I thought of reading the book with him, but after reading Les Trois Mousquetaires earlier in the year, I think the language is a little too convoluted for him yet... soon though. Got him a manga version in the mean time. It's quite the story... Dumas is quite the story teller...

for me part of it is just that i no longer have the patience for the hassle of trying to coordinate with others to ride. and the annoyance of having to stop and wait every 10 minutes. if i'm gonna go out and ride for 2 hours, i wanna be pedaling and moving for 2 hours.

I think I've skied like 12 days out of the last 16. Life is good.
Catching up on work today. I have to get some skis and my V10 listed for sale, and probably part out my RFX since nobody wants a super unrideable 27.5 old school reach freeride bike any more.

I haven't skied once yet this year, despite having purchased a season pass. :(

I'm dealing with car rental horseshit trying to get my two under-25 kids back to the Front Range from SLC. Budget, who I made the initial reservation, told my kid they don't have any "age-unrestricted" vehicles available, despite the reservation being made FOR a driver under the age of 25.

Kind sounds like a Seinfeld episode...

how many days has @SkaredShtles skied?

:busted:
One.

Just enough to ensure I can't get a refund on my pass.

The 18th century aristocratic French is indeed not at all friendly. But the story is so captivating. I had read it when I was twenty something.

Look up the new series with Jeremy Irons. So far it's the one that folows the original story the most accurately.

As someone who normally eats ~3000 calories a day, I do not appreciate being on a no food diet until after tomorrow morning.

Also, work is BS.

tell them to find an age un-restricted car by end of day or they're going to be paying for their airfare home.

I went out for a group ride (I've bitched about it on here before) and it was seriously sessioning each drop in a shitty local park for 2 hours with 20ish people. I just want to ride bikes!
