I've been following the situation and it sucks. Its amazing that the same warlords that caused all the problems during the operation that Black Hawk Down was based on are now our ally in the name of terror. Poplitics suck....just like how we trained and fed money to Osama bin Laden during the Afganhistan war and how we supported Sadaam not too long before he invaded Kuwait. Wierd how the tables turn so quickly.

I wonder if the people there aren't at least a little willing to tolerate some Islamic totalitarianism in return for a bit of stability.

It would be the obvious and preferable alternative to current conditions. We probably could have done a lot better following through there rather than waste a bajillion dollars and thousands of lives in Iraq.

Agreed. From what I've read the supposed Islamic terrorists have been rebuilding the infastructure as they have been moving across the country. People want progress and stability even if it comes from a radical government...a radical government to most people is better than no government (which they have now).

These guys claim not to want to do what the Taliban did. They want Islamic-based law but have said they can negotiate other things.

Of course, talk is cheap in a place like Somalia.

Sure if you guys didn't piss bitch and moan about what a horrible failure it was, how we didnt belong there, and how we needed to GET OUT NOW. Leave a lib. in charge of a war effort and all you'll ever get is half ass results. TO bad Bills balls were in Monicas mouth at the time, he really could've used them there

Yeah I was thinking about the Taliban too. They were initially welcomed by a population sick of war when they came to power as well. We'll see if this mob can manage things better than the Taliban did.

It's because people in general are braindead sheep. People don't rememberwhat happened last week so 'tables turning' is completely possible. The people that do realize what's really going on are either: too few, or not powerful enough to do anything about it.

So, being a braindead sheep isn't just an American thing? I'm so relieved.
