The idea of a 'society' has always been developing tools to enrich an individual's and community's ability to critically think and develop ideas. The academic process exists to achieve these goals. They presumably (and mostly) will do this from a humanistic perspective because hey, human. Just because someone came up with a computer process that passes tests better than a meat bag, doesn't mean there's purpose in it or that that it's good. Because the purpose of a society is those that live within it.......not test results. No shit, this is how some asshole creates skynet.
