In the cleavage of the Tetons
The only ‘valid’ use for that I can see is to use it to Catfish vulnerable kids that are likely looking for any confirmation bias (towards their obsession).
But even that is pretty gross, it’s a fine line between nipping something in the bud, or actually sending them further along the path to action. (Which could be entrapment?)

What a world we are in.

I have always said, since I was like, 13, that mankind is the only animal on earth that knowingly has created thing that could kill all of us.
Case in point:

I just read a forum discussion about a company that terminated their relationship with a sponsored artist because he posted some insider information on a public social media space. In the discussion, an individual commented that YouTube and Google are government organizations not private companies, thus this was a freedom of speech issue.

I suppose this could go in the "Interesting Science" thread.

But I feel that this is more at home in this thread.
It is an interesting video on the work, I'll give it that.
All well and good that he is working on these things because he finds it super interesting, but his attitude towards them being deliberately used for harm is one of "Oh well that's for society to think about, it's not my problem" encapsulates all that is wrong in science and the Tech bro world.
They will be the death of us, because they don't care about anything or anyone else, and if they acknowledge that there is a problem, they assign it as someone else's problem and nothing to do with them.

It’s easy to get lost in modern comfort, but I wish more people would just take a few seconds sometimes to recognize that we live in extraordinary times. The fact that we get to take hot showers every day is a monumental luxury compared to the rest of human history.

That we can communicate across the globe instantaneously is anthropologically astounding, if you compare the last 30 years of human history to the 300,000 years before it.
...
A whole galaxy of humans and human know-how has come together to give us these wild luxuries of daily existence that make the vast majority of us wealthier in health and technology and everyday human comfort than the richest kings and queens and emperors of history.

And yet. We sneer at experts. We spit epithets like “academic elites” at professors dedicating their lives to pursuing discovery that benefits humankind. And we worship flashy internet hucksters selling lifestyle scams.

Not so deep down we are still animals.
And Trump (and people like him) have figured out the admin password.

Trump has removed NIH funding
Blocked FDA communiqués
Left the WHO
Then removed protections for our previous head of epidemic management.

Should there be another outbreak, there will be no stopping it, and nobody will step up to help after seeing what happened to Fauci. No money for research, and no determining how bad it is. We’ll just have to count the bodies.

We are doomed.

"Misinformation on social media falsely claims she was a transgender pilot from the Virginia National Guard named Jo Ellis. Ellis has posted a "proof of life" video on Facebook, denouncing the rumors and offering condolences to those killed in the crash."

It's no wonder her family doesn't want to release her name - I suspect a certain segment of the population is just FROTHING to drag her through the DEI mud. :disgust1:
