So just a quick question for all guys that can manual, how long did it take you to learn how? It seems like this is one aspect of biking that i am having a super hard time mastering.

any advice would be awesome

thanks

Practice, practice, practice.
I didn't learn until I moved to Boston and rode street everyday, then it didnt take too long.

There are definitely bikes and geometries that make it easier, but nothing can take the place of practice.

try getting far behind your seat and push forward with your legs and pull with your arm. Then find your balance point.

Like the others have said, practice. I have days where I can manual forever and then days where I might be able to go a foot. Just practice.

A teaching tip a friend once told me was, "put your ass on your rear hub." It seemed to work for me. Try to remember where that "locked in" point is and repeat it. Like the others have said, practice.

i dunno, how did you learn to bunnyhop or wheelie?
any time you ride anywhere just do em as much as possible. pick two cracks in the sidewalk and see if you can manual all the way across em.
