Good post. Friendly fire is just one of the many ugly byproducts of war. That's why war should be avoided in all but the most dire situations. A point missed badly by this administration.

I have more empathy for the hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis. It's odd that the conservative, Jesus folks seem to only care about American lives. From what I hear of this Jesus guy, he wouldn't be very impressed with the mass killings of his children.

God bless America.
Ohh, the irony! :monkey:

Things like Abu Ghraib (to take just one good example) wouldn't have been possible if there wasn't an übermench mentality. In this case I don't think them soldiers were half as bad as the guys giving the orders, of which Rumsfelt was their initiatior. That whole place was run by the CIA and Janis Karpinski was just a front, out ranked in authority by them who came with the night fall...
dude, don't even bother bringing up Abu Ghraib. Seriously man, as someone who actually lived there for a year of my life, you just sound stupid trying to tell me what really happened.

He doesn't count. Everyone in your neck of the woods knows that Catholics aren't Christians.

Besides, he's way to busy making sure that condom use is discouraged in Africa to have to worry about killing brown people in Iraq...he just took the path of least resistance.

Don't waste your energy on Rockwool - he's the polar opposite of n8.

n8 is far far far right, rockwool is far far far left.

Neither one will every listen to logic or reason, they have their own pre-determined idea of how things are and nothing will change them.
Such tunnel vision is not limited to any two individuals here, I'm sad to say. Defining or labeling yourself closes your ears to opportunities for learning, evolving and understanding.

Ouff, are you seriously implying that you know what whas going on in Abu Ghraib (still as an example) than the commander of all those prison facilities, Janis Karpinski?

You being in Iraq for a year or three does give you some insight, depending on your specialization and rank, in your case I'm positive you know what sand looks like by now, but the things I'm talking about, like the politics of the Bush administration and all the lies they are spewing out, I get to know of from the exact same sources as you do.

Do you think that astronauts whip space scientiests up when it comes to knowledge just because they've been there?

Why would a Coroner be the one stating that the friendly fire incident was criminal?
I would imagine it's the same system as we use in Australia. In a death where the facts are not obvious the coroner would investigate and based on his/her findings criminal charges can be recommended. The appropriate authorities (in Australia it would be the Department of Public Prosecutions) can then act if they so choose.
