It was a wet one today. Trail basically goes straight up and straight down though, much descending was had.

I question this post.
I couldn't figure out how to fix it on my phone... Fixed now. I question the Stravas of that ride. I'm pretty sure it was more elevation than my watch reported.

I've since gone on another ride...

Back at work. Meh.

Starting to put in some kilometers on this donkey bike, the shoulder is feeling okay for that.

These rides have actually been pretty fun, even had one guy out in farm country tonight reverse down the road back up to me (while taking a picture) and inform me that the road ends here. I just lol'd and said perfecttttttt.

Maybe I'm a creep for walking through the cemetery, but who else is going to? This person was born before even @johnbryanpeters.

This headstone was made +100 years ago. The company engraved in the side is still around in the town I grew up in.

Hell yeah brother, do it for Dale!

Post-apocalyptic sunset ride today.
Want to trade? Damn that looks mighty tasty.

3-race series to cap off the summer XC race season here. Two races today, a one-loop short track and a dirt crit, several hours apart. I took 2nd in expert on the short track and 4th on the crit. You rack up points with this, so if I can keep it together tomorrow I might do pretty well. The short track was quite muddy, although we had good weather today. Bike running great. Final race is a longer XC tomorrow at the bike park, they make it painful with a lot of steep climbing usually, but you get to come down a couple of the park trails. Going to bring my other bike too so I can do some DH afterwards.

ummm...not without guidance. it's the grandfather district of pisgah, it's somewhat in the middle of nowhere, and the trails/routes aren't really marked. but if you told me when you might show up, i could probably give a tour/provide guidance :D

No idea, but I was up here at 2800' above Anchorage in the alpine tundra. I found them at the 2800' level or so. Since it's essentially Fall now, stuff is starting to turn different colors. I noticed the blueberry leaves had gone red/brown, although crowberries seemed to be normal for the most part. These leaves were super bright-red though, almost like flowers and much more dramatic in person. I don't know what color they are earlier in the season.

I'm fascinated at how diverse and tiny the plants are in the tundra though. They grow larger, but early in the season it's just amazing to get up close and look at them, they are like tiny little forests all to their own. Both of these pictures are maybe just a few inches across.

And that cool slow-mo part of the riding videos where the guys are hiking uphill with their bikes for like 3 seconds...
