Errands today. I had forgotten the amount of disruption the perpetual construction here creates. It’s wild. Pretty colours though. We still had fun.

Last week's snow in the high country was too soon for my tastes -- the first snow is ALWAYS TOO SOON but November abides some years.

But coincidentally I had a road trip to visit my eldest at the tail end of her fall break (not sure how she aged while I stay the same age in my mind but I digress...) and deliver some very important items that didn't fit on the plane (i.e. a 3' punched tin cactus/night light that's older than she is and her pasta maker...)

Anywho lemons -> lemonade...

I'd been hankering to check out the riding in Spokangelis which is conveniently located halfway to Reed College and a scant 5.5 hours from BZN.

It was 42 at the TH @ 1:30, so I bundled up with every bit of cycling clothes I brought and thankfully started with a climb so it didn't take long to warm up.

Beacon Hills has 15-20 miles of spaghetti trails, and I could've used a local guide -- got 2.5 hours in nonetheless a mix of tree lined singletrack, the occasional double-track roads/satellite access, swoopy bermy goodness and tons of rollers, jumps, and natural features.

Did I mention the rocks -- this was the lone mobile bong shed stop for the day:

This was actually the cheater line, there were 3-5' drops off the back side...

The singletrack was pretty sweet too

Tons of cra-cray big drops around every corner -- not my bag but would be cool to see someone else do them...

I covered "both" sides, but still have a lot more to explore.

I only saw 3 bikers, a doe / her fawn and some poop until I got to most popular access point (next to the folf course, DJ park and such which was just after swoopy, bermy Rabid Rabbit downhill:

I'd like to explore more of the trails on the popular side tomorrow, if I can hang with the 37 freedumb units at 9:00 AM

Until then I'm stuffing my face with cold beer and decent for price/chain fish burrito with two HOT sauces before checking out the hotel hot tub.

Leaves are getting thicccccc out there. Luckily it started raining at the end of the ride, just to keep things interesting!

Not cool when you have to start the ride with lights :(

There was a shuttle day on today for a dude's farewell but my car's radiator said no.
So it was a ride from home today.

DUMPED rain this morning. We were soaked within 100meters.

Extra wet thanks to the FOUR leaf blowers out there. Some of the blown leaves were just funneling water on the trails.

Spent the day stomping pedals. My spousal unit dropped me off up top and I spun out 30+ miles back to town.

Was on a mission as I lost a knife yesterday. After 2 hours of retracing my steps I found it! Haha

In other news, my Mullet Peacemaker is too small. I'm gonna take it apart and stop riding it.

That is quite a thing! Congrats! Biggest day I’ve done in elevation is probably half of that! Is that about 6hrs in the saddle?
That was 9 hours of riding, about an hour pausing to snack, take photos, wardrobe changes and another hour solving rear wheel mechanicals. I was having to really baby my rear wheel, otherwise the ride time would have been a bit less and I'd have saved the mechanical hour.

Biggest single climb before that was ~6500ft up to just over 14000ft. This was apparently 7156ft in a single climb, up to just over 11k and a whole bunch of snow to contend with.

Most total vert I've done in a day is probably about 13000ft, not sure.

Lots of people might recognize the GPS track for the second half of that ride. The first half is normally in a shuttle van.

Splendid ride tonight. Last hero dirt of the season, maybe?

One buddy had a bit of a hissy fit, after he fell over. He went on spiel about not wanting to ride off camber leaf covered trails. This is after we asked what he wanted to ride but just said "whatever" (we had offered to go ride the flatter meandering stuff). AND he is the one that suggested we ride this particular spot tonight
