I have no idea where I am
Went to ride but it started raining hard just as I got changed in the parking lot. Don't really like starting in the rain and dealing with wet ass, bike, car, etc.

So I went up to Hanging Rock State Park, and hiked up Cook's Wall and back down in the rain. It's a rugged, steep trail strewn with roots, rocks, and boulders with significant elevation gain. Very reminiscent of hiking up a late 90s/early 2000s DH track. Been wanting to do it for a while, but either get T-storms or run out of daylight. This time I took a small flashlight and left at 6:40pm. I haven't ridden in a while and needed a workout. To say it was a brisk pace would be an understatement. Got back to the car two hours later with only using the flashlight the last ten minutes or so. Total milage would be 4.5. Definitely want to hike it again, but slower and take time to explore some of the other cool rock outcroppings.

Hung out for 15 min. to take in the view from the top of Cooks Wall:

Are you doing bike maintenance in the passenger side bucket seat of a 1976 Pinto?
Truing stand was on the floor in the living room as I leant back on the sofa, photo was on the leather foot stool/ottoman thingy :)

Truing/wheel building is always done in comfort.

Truing/wheelbuidling is always done in a rapid decent into madness and failure as each turn of the spoke key worsens what I've done trying to undo what I just did that turned a slight wobble into a gyroscopic, vomit-inducing mobius strip of regret and shame that will ultimately need to be handed over to a professional.

I've been thinking of giving wheel building a try. Your technique sounds pretty solid, probably worth a shot.

How many beers should I drink before departing on this adventure?

Beluga Whales were doing their thing just off the point in the opposite direction today. Freaking amazing (warm and sunny) weather. I told all my friends that they better not tell ANYONE down south what the weather was like up here this weekend. I just got back from Oklahoma and Texas and holy shit, Why the F do people live there?
