That's march?

Holy fuck you guys really didn't get any snow this year....
No we didn’t. We only got 3 decent snow storms this year and lots of high elevation rain in between. Above 2000m it is ok but with so many sketchy layers. Inbounds avalanches are happening a lot in the last week or two.

That’s from Tuesday.

Conditions are getting sloppy in the afternoon, so I got up at 5:30. Conditions were outstanding. Someone (like me) put some nice reflectors on the trees on my favorite tight trail so it'll be easier to put in next year. Screamed by a sleeping moose chasing a KOM on the downhill. New snow-bridge holding up good (old one lower right fell into the creek).

Friggin brain freeze with the wind tonight.

On the way home, a buddies car stopped running in a less than ideal spot on the freeway. Dead alternator, it seems. Called CAA and let him use one of my tow privileges.

The melt continues! Rode my big bike today. Felt lucky to have such a dialled bike. I enjoyed every crisp shift and the silence. Bring on the trails!

Trying to get my ass in shape -- literally, the first 4 rides suck ass and figuratively re: Monkeyfest / summer riding goals.

First mixed media ride of the season (dirt, mud & gravel) made all the more spicy by riding the skinny tired gravel bike I hope to ride in Yellowstone again on Tuesday.

I've never done this ride before and the road got snowed out near the top so I couldn't do the loop I had intended.

More climbing than I had anticipated, 9/10 would ride again once temps rise and road dries out.

End of the (non-white) road:

The direction I was hoping to go (center->right) righteous sledding / boarding possibilities in those far away draws...

Well the bike works and nothing fell off, so that's a win. Not sure, but the high limit screw on the derailleur was loose as snot - found out by sending my new chain into the void between my new wheel and old cassette. Oops. Luckily I was going slow and didn't try to take another pedal stroke, so it wasn't too stuck.

Had to drive 2.5 hours for these dry trails.

Got photobombed by a fatty. I appeared to be the only one wearing shorts out there.

Lots of ebikes out on these generally flat trails. Watched two of them struggle to get up this steep short little bump. The guy on the Intense with DH fork didn't make it, even with all the spare power he had to get off and walk. :dead:

It felt like riding with a tailwind today wearing regular shoes, a light jacket and summer helmet rather than boots, heavy jacket and a winter helmet. My son felt the same way and almost sprinted his way to school. Lots of downed branches waiting to be cleaned up. South-facing slopes are bare, the north-facing still pretty snow-covered. Should melt this week with some luck!
