I spent quite a few runs on the '05 Boxxers last weekend in Whistler, it's a lot better than the '04 goods. The lowers are much beefed up, the crowns are lower profile, stiffer and use the same size wrench for a change and the lower bushings are 200% larger than previous models.

Though it's still the same platform, it's been more than a little improved. Definitely a worthy fork for freeride and racing IMHO!

I've heard the pricing will remain the same for all models and in some cases it has even dropped.

It was cool for a change, rather than spewing about "it's stiffer, stronger, lighter blah blah blah" (rhetoric) they had parts from '04 and '05 during their presentation and the new stuff looks mucho improved. The trail is where it was the real deal, I was concerned that the 8 inch Boxxer platform would be flexy as hell. Nothing could be further than the truth!

I'd definitely look at the '05 Boxxer it's a contender for all facets of the gravity market!

From that pic, it looks kinda funny. The proportions seem a little off or something.

That's the one! Enough room for a 2.8 michie, much beefier arch, recessed seals to simplify wiping. Looks great in person, but it's definitely different looking compared to the '04 goods.

Does it have the new "Flood Gate" damping or whatever Rock Shox is calling it?
That's the new lock out bits on the Pike and Reba line. The Boxxer damping internals are virtually unchanged from '04 except that

1. Quality control is reportedly much better
2. They've removed the external rebound adjuster (that kept littering the trails) in favour of tighter tolerenced pieces accessible with (I think) a 3mm allen key
3. the new lower bushings are at least 2.5 times bigger than the '04 platform

Oh yeah, it should be mentioned, all parts are available to upgrade existing Boxxers, including the new lowers, crowns and bushings (though it remains to be seen if they are retrofittable to the old lowers)

What I did notice for certain is the new fork is much more sensitive to small hits, has less flex and doesn't pack up on repetitive hits and braking bumps.

Got to ride this one on my hardtail and on an SGS Pro while in Whistler last weekend.

It's a single side coil sprung job that IMHO is their most versatile freeride fork of the line. I loved using it to weight the bike differently on varied terrain/trails. I didn't think the damping was quite as nice as the Team or World Cup versions though.

Seems like an obvious good idea. 5"-7" adjustable travel dual crown dh/freeride fork. Why hasn't Marzocchi come out with one?

I really like the idea of adjustable travel on a 7" fork. IMO that's the biggest advantage of a Breakout Plus, so it just makes the Boxxer that much more competitive.

mental, the external adjuster went the way of the dodo a long time ago, only the first taiwan units came with that one.

the lower bushings are bigger because there is less overlap, and you wont be able to fit new boxxers in old lowers because the stanchion would slide out of the lower bushing when rebounding hard.
older boxxers in new lowers should be ok as far as i can tell.
