I have been looking for some photos of the new Iron horse downhill bike that the madcatz team is riding but can find nothing at all :(

It is probably to do with my rubbishness at looking though so does anyone out there have any pics of it? The more detailed the better.

Thanks dude :thumb:

Is the shock mounted on the lower of the 2 linkage plates as well as the top?
Or am I being a bit stupid and it is mounted on the main frame.

I like how they put the bottom shock mount inside a big bearing (for less wear on the mount). Looks like it might have a pretty low COG considering it places the shock vertical.

Damn that looks nice  ... is that a VPP style suspension?

I may just have to retire my '00 G-Spot.

Do you have any specs (i.e weight, cost, when availible, etc)?

I am fairly sure they will be the DH bike in the 05 iron horse line up.
It is something I will definatly consider, especially if IH keep their low prices on full bikes next year, the SGS bikes are really good deals just now

I'm sure Ska Todd will chime in soon with more info on the 05 DW IH DH bike :)

Thats sort of why I posted it here, I know a couple of the guys from IH post on here.
It will be intresting to hear what they have to say about it and why they chose to move away from the FSR linkage.

Rear axle path will be different. That's what the SC and Intense VPP bikes have patented. As long as this is a different axle path then it's all good.

It's only similar to VPP in that it uses a solid rear end pivoting on two linkage plates.

Karpiel, Canfield, DW-link, VPP... They're all completely different suspension designs, but they all look very similar. Think about how many possible axle paths the two linkage plates would allow you to have. And, of course, those different paths will allow a lot of different suspension characteristics.

I imagine once DW has his patent(s), we won't be able to shut him up about it :D - not that it's a bad thing!

You can get an idea of what the pricing will be on a thread over on hcor. The US made framekit (includes: shock (5th IIRC) e13 reducer cups, bb and hub I think. Maybe some other stuff too) will retail for $2200. The complete bikes will have taiwanese made made frames and the price will reflect it.

The other buzz is that it has a low bb height. Somewhere under 14".

Ok here is some info about the 05 IH bike. Keep in mind that the production version will look a bit different than the one in the pic.

The US production bikes will be in your choice of black magic pearl, jazz blue (like nogaro blue w/o the pearl), and imola yellow

Frames will have a US retail of $2200 w/ a Progressive shock, DT/Hugi hub, Thomson post, e13 cups, & FSA Orbit Carbon headset. The US made frames will have a proprietary tubeset.

Date: Target is October.

The new Iron Horse downhill bike is a DW-LINK design. There is a huge amount of info about dw-link on this site. I am sure that it could be found wth the search function. You can read more about dw-link system at www.dw-link.com. Actually we will be updating the dw-link site with a lot of info very soon due to all of the DH bike race wins lately. The new prototype bikes have been raced to spots on every NORBA and World Cup podium so far this year. I dont know if thats some kind of record or not, but its damn cool!

Later!

The new bike has 8" of rear wheel travel. There have not been any pictures of the new frame released yet. The pictures above are of a 2nd generation, Alpha prototype frame that was designed to be built with conventional manufacturing methods for rapid prototyping.

The production bikes / current prototypes are pretty different looking, and pretty sexy!

I really tried! This bike has been in the works since 2001, so I had some time to think about it. :D

Do you stroke your frame lovingly and whisper "yessss, my precioussss..." to it?

This may or may not have been brought up but is there a target production frame weight (for the US-made frameset)? I couldn't find it if it was.

Sure, sometimes I do that!

The USA frame weight, with shock, should be in the 10s
