KAMPALA, Uganda — Last March, three American evangelical Christians, whose teachings about “curing” homosexuals have been widely discredited in the United States, arrived here in Uganda’s capital to give a series of talks.

The theme of the event, according to Stephen Langa, its Ugandan organizer, was “the gay agenda — that whole hidden and dark agenda” — and the threat homosexuals posed to Bible-based values and the traditional African family.

For three days, according to participants and audio recordings, thousands of Ugandans, including police officers, teachers and national politicians, listened raptly to the Americans, who were presented as experts on homosexuality. The visitors discussed how to make gay people straight, how gay men often sodomized teenage boys and how “the gay movement is an evil institution” whose goal is “to defeat the marriage-based society and replace it with a culture of sexual promiscuity.”

Now the three Americans are finding themselves on the defensive, saying they had no intention of helping stoke the kind of anger that could lead to what came next: a bill to impose a death sentence for homosexual behavior.

Oh noes! They wuz duped.

“I feel duped,” Mr. Schmierer said, arguing that he had been invited to speak on “parenting skills” for families with gay children. He acknowledged telling audiences how homosexuals could be converted into heterosexuals, but he said he had no idea some Ugandans were contemplating the death penalty for homosexuality.

“That’s horrible, absolutely horrible,” he said. “Some of the nicest people I have ever met are gay people.”

Sure they were...besides, isn't death for homosexuals Biblical? Have some backbone and support your religion!

And some of those nice gay people are going to be hanging off the end of a rope like a potted fern, thanks to American Christianity. The Lord's work is indeed blessed.

What do these idiots think people do with folks they don't like in that part of the world? Well now they know, they freakin' kill them.

I guess this is what happens when you go around calling people "evil" in Africa.

Of course he didn't. Why would you want to research the cultural climate before going in to educate on a subject of your expertise?

What about just going to the next town, like West Hollywood, and see how people live their lives there?

I wonder how much money these evangelicals get for preaching their message of hate. Though it sounds like Uganda was not exactly ready for a pride parade before these evangelical turds showed up.

Human beings can be horrible, disgusting, awful creatures. :(

Doesn't the bible also say that disobedient children and women who are not virgins when married in a church should be put to death? Pretty convenient to ignore any part of the that condemns you or your family.

Well that's the Old Testament, so they side step that by saying they aren't Jews..whatever. The OT also says if you invade a country you can take any of the women you want as your wives, not to mention not eating pork, shell fish, or having any mold in your house.

However, when I tell them about a passage in the New Testament, where those in the church are to greet each other with a "holy kiss" and ask why they don't observe that, they get all pissed off and call me a: sinner, heretic, Godless, demon possesed (yes I've literally be accused of all those things when I brought that up).
