Predictions nobody asked for you say?

Cam Zink and Kyle strait build what is pretty clearly the biggest, gnarliest, technical line possible. Kyle Strait is content to ride it. Cam Zink throws down some extremely technical tricks off the gnarliest parts. Cam Zink puts down what is far and away by orders of magnitude the best run of the competition. Good enough for 2nd place.

Brandon Semenuk, with the help of just his crew, builds a run nearly as technical, gnarly, exposed, and burly as Zinks run. Is by far the most creative. No other rider would touch his run with a 10 foot pole because it is too difficult. Rides it so smoothly it looks easy. Way better than any other run save Zinks. Judges dock him points for it because he makes it look effortless. Good enough for 4th.

An 8 man team (+another 16 diggers) of fest series riders band together to remove any degree of technical aspect from the course, creating a big line of dirt jumps down it. Run removes the cool parts of rampage, e.g. natural terrain, gnarliness, technical aspects, and exposure. Inexplicably, one of them (probably Canadian) wins with 5-10 points more than Zink despite throwing smaller, easier versions of the exact same tricks down what is by far an easier run.

Somebody makes a reference to "his friends call him Norby." Somebody mentions he got robbed. Everybody nods their head sagely. Forget that he got 12th place, and his run, at best, should have gotten him 5th place, a "who cares" result.

People talk about what a bad sport Zink is after he gets pissed off at another 2nd place result that should have been a 1st place. Nobody thinks about Brandon Semenuk getting robbed, because "3rd or 4th is pretty good." Even though his run was way the fuck better in every way than the dirt jump line.

People complain about the judging.

At the end of the day, there were some absolutely bonkers, stunning, and fantastic runs by everybody, including the fest series riders, that each deserve a spot in the record books. This fact gets overlooked.

a dislocated shoulder doesn't necessarily mean he's gonna be out of the comp (at least this far away from the event date) but it's certainly not gonna help him.

Agreed, but if you watch the video he posted up, he dislocated it doing a 4 foot drop, and didn't fall. Just popped out

If you watch his instagram vid the move he threw it on was pretty mellow. Zink is tough as nails but I wonder if he will be able to hold together through practice and into the event. Anyone else going to be on site? I'll be there Fri for sure, maybe thurs.

After a couple or many dislocations, that shit can just fall out whenever it wants. My 11th was turning off a lamp. Then I got it fixed. Now I am old and it just hurts like fuck all the time.

Agreed. Plus, isn't it a new venue? It's not like he would get to relax and take a few days off before hand, he's gonna be spending 11-12hours a day digging as hard as he can and throwing tons of weight.

Everybody I know who had shoulders get to that point, ended up needing surgery - they just come out too easy. Each time it happens, it makes it more likely its gonna happen again until that SX happens.

I donno. He, along with Semenuk are pretty much always my favorite riders to watch during rampage. They always have something huge, new, and gnarly to throw down, and the fact that I've gotten to ride with him a few times at Northstar and know he's super nice and fun as hell to ride with means I'm pulling for him pretty hard. But hopefully whatever he decides to do ends up being the right decision. I'd fucking hate to see him do some gnarly trick off the biggest drop he can find and end up like Paul B.

i know my kids are fired up to see the replay tomorrow.
