Watchin' you. Writing it all down.
Its actually a really good book. The best thing is that it portrays a real person which to me is more interesting than the two extreme (almost cartoonish) characters that most folks subscribe to.

that was a good read, thanks
I have heard it many times before that Lance especially a younger Lance could be very arrogant at times... he was a very cocky person more so before having Cancer

On the Discovery channel the other night they were showing his preparation, at one point he and John Bryunell (however you spell it) started to get into a pissing match about something, Lance bet him 100,000 he couldnt make the climb up some mountain without dismounting from the bike.

Stik story time...
In 98' when Lance came to Park City to race a national (I will try to refrain from namedropping since it irritates so many of you knobs) a friend of mine was a friend of Lances. That friend told Lance that his buddy Stikman would hook him up. Lance had full trek kit, full trekked out, but my buddy let Lance in on the secret that the trek guys were morons so he would be better off if I hooked him up.

So he comes to my pits, with all his gear, wife, etc...I was working for Leigh and Brian at the time and had finished my work for the day, so I built his bike up, got him ready to ride the XC, he was friendly enough and he went on his way. He ended up pitting out of my trailer that weekend and we all got to know him-as much as you can know someone in a weekend, hanging at the pits.

I have known many great athletes in my time and with greatness sometimes come attitude, I can deal with that, sh1t just goes in one ear and out the other. Later that Year I saw Lance at Vermont and he remembered me, said hi...bla bla bla.

I think it was a year or 2 later (after the first book came out) and I was hanging out at the Oakley building quite a bit, Lance was coming to do an autograph session, (which he demanded to be helicoptered to O, not limo driven...its a 20 minute ride by car from airport to O !!) so I brought my Wheaties box with me for him to sign, figuring he might remember me buidling his bikes, washing his bikes, giving him some tips ;-) etc....

Anyway, Lance saw me with my cereal box and asked security to have me escorted out of the building! I was pissed, the security told me "Lance is only signing his Oakley poster or his book which you can buy inside"
Since then, not a huge fan, but I respect his cycling talents (even though he worked with Dr. Ferrari!), respect what he has done for cancer as well, so I guess I will let it slide. hahaha
