I was browsing through some MTB sites and somewhere I saw a pic of the THE rims. What happened to those anyway?? I remember there being some article in MBA but that was a few years ago. Just curious...
I think they just ceased to be relevant; 1st with DH tires coming out with real sidewalls, 2nd with tubeless, and 3rd with compound technology such that you don't have to run 12psi to get decent grip, there just isn't any need to jump through flaming hoops just to get a reduced risk of pinch flats.
I remember some comment about listeneing to a whole CD while trying to mount the tire, then they pinched the tube..... and had to start all over.......
I think those rims were the only product that I ever read in MBA that got a bad review. Of course, they did write in the last paragraph that they did prevent flats.
