here's a perfect opportunity to try & generate a (possible) windfall for our massive deficit, and the IRS would rather sweat :monkey:'s like you & me.

or, is this yet another example of bureaucracy preventing a timely change to our domestic/economic policy?

Considering that the IRS has been auditing less over all in the last 10 years I guess personal returns are the place to start.

Keep in mind returns that get selected for audit might have Sch C's and investment activity etc so they are auditing the personal and business side of the return. Just a casual observance.

I am not surprised or appauled(sp?) at the findings.....I bet 1040's were audited in high numbers before hand also. Now declineing business audits coule also easily mean they are auditing more 1040's lending to a % change that looks like business are getting off easy. Business also have sales tax audits via the states and the like that won't show up on that data set....it isn't IRS related.

Just a casual observance.
